Opinions Need About a Preschool situation

Well, the montessori school does have an opening in January. She goes for her interview (!) Monday at 9. Hopefully she'll visit with them and not be shy.

Anyway, yes, of course I believe her, but I also know that she's 3. She will want me to lay down with her at night, and when I don't, she'll tell me she is scared of the Heffalumps and Woozles (thanks Pooh!) Is she really scared or does she know that's Mama's soft spot, who knows?!?! After school yesterday I asked her why she was scared to go to school and she said because of X. X is a.) her friend and b.) not even in her class anymore. So, I dunno. She said that on the playground he ran after her and grabbed her neck and was being "uggy." I don't know if it's happening or not, I would assume SOMETHING that is upsetting her is happening, but she might just not like to be away from me regardless of where she is. I'm just not sure.

However, we were going to make the switch to the new school next year, so I don't see how it would HURT to do it early, you know? Not saying the old school is evil or horrible or anything, but if we were going to switch and the opening came up early, seems like we should take advantage.

I'm glad things are working out for you. Another positive about the switch is you will not have to go through signing up for next year inthe spring/summer. Somethimes there are wait lists for good 4 year old programs. Of course, she will already be there and will automatically go to the next class. I would assume the kids there have an early registration before the general public.

I can't imagine the things you are talking about happening in DDs daycare/preschool. I do not think you overreacted at all...

but...last year DD (then 3) was having a problem acting like a baby and crying whenever she didn't get what she wanted, at home and at school. Her teachers and I discussed it and decided that if she acted like a baby she should go to the baby class for several hours. We explained to her that this would be the consequence of her behavior...and suddenly she remembered how to speak and act like a big girl (she never did have to go to the baby class). This did work for us...but no punishment at DD's school (beside time outs and tokens taken away) is used unless it is discussed with the parents first.
I hope montessori works out for you!!!
