We are going to Disney in February and it is the only trip my mom is likely to ever take with my children and I and her first trip in many many years. I take my children every year, but so far have only taken the two oldest and one time I took my now 6 year old when he was 3. This is the first time I am taking all my boys and my youngest son's first visit.

Now that you have the background let me ask my question. :rotfl: We are on the deluxe dining planning which we have done for the last three years and have some new places on the list. I wanted to treat my mom to some signature meals at CG and Jiko. I was wondering if this will be a problem with children? As a single mom I have been taking my children out to eat by myself for many years. They are always well behaved and I always have people come up to our table and compliment them.

I was also wondering if it might be okay for me to bring in a small portable DVD player with headphones for my youngest if he gets antsy. my other children love eating out and talking with us and I made our ADR's early so they won't be tired, but I do not want to disturb those around us. Below is the ADR list I have and comments would be welcomed and appreciated.

Day 1
Tony's lunch
Ohana dinner

Day 2
Le Cellier Lunch
Sci Fi Dinner

Day 3
1900 Park Fare Breakfast
Akershush Lunch
Tutto Dinner

Day 4
Donald's Breakfast at AK
Yak and Yeti Lunch
Jiko Dinner

Day 5
GF Cafe Lunch
California Grill Dinner

Day 6
Coral Reef Lunch
Raglan Road Dinner

Day 7
Castle Lunch
Narcossis or Citricos Dinner??? Still undecided on this meal.

I would also like to add that we do not go back to the room for afternoon breaks, we instead use our lunch time on the deluxe plan as a rest, so losing an hour or two of park time is not a big deal to us. We just enjoy the time together.

Day 1
Tony's lunch: good choice. There are no great
Ohana dinner: excellent

Day 2
Le Cellier Lunch: fine choice
Sci Fi Dinner: expensibe but fun

Day 3
1900 Park Fare Breakfast:never been
Akershush Lunch: only have done breakfast
Tutto Dinner: good choice, get the eggplant appetizer

Day 4
Donald's Breakfast at AK: fine
Yak and Yeti Lunch: nice choice
Jiko Dinner: I need to try this joint, everyone tells me its excellent. I love Boma right next door

Day 5
GF Cafe Lunch: never been
California Grill Dinner: can't go wrong here

Day 6
Coral Reef Lunch: good
Raglan Road Dinner: good

Day 7
Castle Lunch: ah, overrated
Narcossis or Citricos Dinner??? Still undecided on this meal. I would do Citiricos myself

I don't think a portable DVD player would be a problem, but I doubt its necessary. This is a theme park. Talk. Most of the places you have chosen are noisy theme park places with the exception of the california grille and Citricos, but even then this isn't a fance midtown manhattan eatery. Its a theme park. I wouldn't worry about it

Yak and Yeti is great! It's one of our favorites. I get the sweet and sour chicken and my husband gets the beef and broccolli - both are excellent.

I agree with the previous poster about Cinderella's Royal Table, it is a little overrated. The food was good, but not as good as most of the other meals we had. The portion sizes were also a bit on the small side. We kind of hated that we spent to credits on it because we were on the regular dining plan and later in the week wished we'd had that credit (obviously this is different for you). But then again, how often do you get to eat in the castle?! We happened to get a window seat and loved that. In the end, it was worth it for the experience.

Just 3 thoughts...

1) 'Ohana is unbelievable FUN in the Morning for Breakfast!

2) That's a LOT of food...are you going to Parks as well ? (Just kidding...Hey - I'd do this kind of schedule too ...if I could afford it! I'm sure you are planning a lot of 'restful' meal times for mom so you can all take a break... )

3) CRT... "Castle"... In my very very humble opinion.....how in the world can you say the Castle is "overrated" when it is...indeed...the CASTLE! Only change I would make...is to do it for dinner...Yes - the food isn't the BEST ever...but it's GOOD...and it is the Castle for heaven's sake...don't all kids want to eat in the castle at least ONCE? (HUGS)

DVD player - Hey as long as it has earphones...I think you are completely fine...you are just being considerate of your child and of the other diners..KUDOS to YOU !!!

Have a magical visit...it sounds like a LOT of fun!

Thank-you all so much, I feel a lot better about my choices now. I know that CRT is not the best meal on property and I even feel a little cheated out of 2 TS credits when we go. The problem? I took my now 9 and 8 year old's for the first time about 3 years ago and now they beg to go each and every time. I had planned it as a one time thing and now I am stuck going every time :confused3. It is my mom's first time eating there though and my youngest son's first time too, so I don't feel so bad about it this time.

I think I will reserve the DVD player for places like CG. I know those meals can run longer and my youngest has a tendency to get down and come over to me after a while. One of my biggest pet peeves is to see children running around while eating out and it wouldn't be fair to those adults or families who are trying to enjoy their meals in relative peace. I will feel like a traitor letting him watch SpongeBob in Disney World though :lmao:. Sadly it is the only thing he will sit absolutely still for.

Thanks again everyone!

We won't Tell ! :cool1:

That's nice of you to be considerate of other folks...

CRT is a family tradition for us...DS now 18 has been to WDW 10 times...and every time we have had a meal at CRT.

It's just him & I in May...and it will be our first time to skip WDW EVER since he's been...

But I talked him into it....just had SO many dining experiences...and now he's older he can appreciate Sushi at Cali Grill, or Le Cellier (I'm hoping!). The Tradition I could NOT talk him out of was Teppan Edo....

But...I just resigned myself to CRT every visit...truly ...it has always been a HUGE highlight of our MK days....and made many memories that we will have forever....:lovestruc

No price tag on those...

Have a Magical VIsit !

I think it is so awesome that your 18 year old is still excited to go to Disney with you. I can only hope mine are at that age. This will be the 6th trip for my two oldest and they are die hard fans and I sincerely hope that does not fade with time. They are forever finding hidden Mickeys everywhere we go and my family knows not to mention anything about Disney World or it will spark a two hour discussion about rides and places to eat :rotfl:.

All wonderful choices and great times...wouldn't change it. Dvd player would be totally fine...have fun!!!
