We will be staying at BWV starting Dec. 21 through to January 3rd. We have done the candlelight processional the past four years (After Xmas). This will be our first trip where we will be at DW for Christmas. :santa:

My question is-Should I be booking the candlelight processional for Xmas Eve or Xmas night. I don't want our two DS ages 11 and 12 to miss anything special that may be happening at the resort on Xmas Eve but I don't know where to find specific information regarding this. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I would do the CP before Christmas Day as the parks are insanely crowded. We were @ OKW last Dec 18 - 26 and every bus driver and other CM warned us to avoid the parks on Christmas Day. We relaxed around the resort til around mid day then just started bus hopping to other resorts to take in all the decorations.

two years agoe we did CP ob xmas eve and it was a nice start to the holiday mood( we ate In Japan). Last year we went to epct but chose to just eat at Le Cellier and not do CP that night. We exited the restaurant just intime for Illumiations..really nice xmas eve. We never go to a park on xmas..we have late breakfast(10:30) at 1900PF then either goto DTD or hang out at the resort.

Do you recall if there were any special activites at the DVC resort on Xmas Eve? I thought I remember reading some time ago about Santa visits as well as chiors and perhaps character visits. I can't remember where I would have read this??? Maybe I'm dreaming!! Thanks for the other info you provided. I appreciate the help.

Maybe we should do the processional on the 23rd. That way we could keep Xmas eve open and forget about the parks on Xmas Day. I still may be able to get to see Gary Sinise.

I remember that at VWL Mickey and Minnie came on Christmas Day. We did CP on Christmas Eve and saw Gary Sinese. It was a great performance (actually 15 out of 16 have been great!) I think Santa came sometime that we were not there 23rd or 24th (while we were in the parks). There were hand bell ringers and a choir. Oh, and Christmas cookies!

We did a pretty good plan on Christmas Eve. Early to MK to do our rides. Then off to Epcot to see CP and then back to MK to see the Christmas parade. Then on Christmas day we hung around the resort, very laid back.

Maybe you could start a thread asking specifically about resort activities during Christmas. Happy planning!:santa:

We were there for Xmas last year... The resort stuff is ok but nothing exciting. THere will be a list posted on WDWINFO.COM in a few months. Last years list is probably on there is you want to look for it. I just remember seeing mickey and minnie at BCV and Santa comes by as well. But...eh...

Now we went to the CP on XMAS Eve... That was COOL. Gary Sinise is AMAZING and if he is the speaker again this year (and I think he will be... he usually does 24, 25, and 26th) it is WELL worth seeing him. Best that I have seen do it, IMHO.

We went to the parks on XMAS to see how they were...

We were at DAK for opening and it wasn't too bad. Then did breakfast.

I'd rather jab knives in my arm than go back to MK on XMAS day. You get people CAMPED out for the parade since opening because they think its the TV parade with all the Celebs. Then they get mad when they find out its not the same parade. It took us 25 minutes to get to the castle it was so crowded.

We then said the heck with this and went to the hotels and DTD. Then went to Epcot at night after a terrible dining experience at Artist Point... )overcooked food and the waitstaff was terrible that night....) and watched Illuminations. Crowded but better than MK.

Honestly, The CP is going to be a much cooler experience on XMAS Eve than the small hotel stuff. I'd do the early or middle CP if you can.

Thank you all so much for the wonderful information. I think I will be on the phone trying to get Xmas Eve for the CP. That was what I originally wanted (I love the CP). Then I thought the boys may miss something special at the BWV that evening. I think we will do the middle CP if possible and then we can head back to BW and see what is happening there. Now I have to wait and see when they start accepting CP reservations. I would imagine Xmas Eve will go quickly.

Any suggestions from you experts as to where to eat on Xmas Day?? Love to hear about all your experiences.

Thanks Again
Joan

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: Would love to see the camping people's expression when told Regis and Kelly weren't there and the parade was filmed weeks ago!

We have never done Christmas Day, but DH and I did eat at Artist Point in the WL last Thanksgiving. What a BEAUTIFUL setting for the holidays!! Yes, it is a bit pricey, but the food was delicious. We are taking our kids with us this year - a few days before Christmas - will be home in Ohio for the actual holiday.

We ate at Whispering Canyon for Christmas day dinner. Not so good, would probably go somewhere else. They had a special menu that wasn't so special to me!

But the beauty of our beloved Wilderness Lodge more than made up for it!
