Hi everyone! My husband, myself, two sons (5 and 2), and my parents will be in the World for our 7 year anniversary in late April. We actually went to Disney and stayed at Wilderness Lodge for our honeymoon. Haven't been back since, and this trip will be quite different from our last.......since we'll be bring two kids and my parents along too!!
Anyway, my parents have offered to watch the boys while my hubbie and I have a "romantic dinner" somewhere while we're there. We'll be staying at POR Riverside (I think). Any suggestions as to where we should have our dinner?? Cost is a factor (when is it isn't), so we don't want to spend too much, but we know we're at Disney, and it won't be cheap!! ALso, do we tell people it's our anniversary, even though we will probably be there the week after? Thanks for your opinions!!

Although we have not tried it I have heard many people rave about Artist's Point. We personally love Blue Zoo. I think that would be a perfect spot given the atmosphere and lack of families. I don't know if you are drinkers but eliminating the wine at any nice restaurant will significantly reduce your bill. I think you could do a reasonable dinner if you share an app and dessert but get your own main course.

I would reccommend making dinner reservations at Flying Fish over at the Boardwalk. Sit at the Chef's Counter. If you sit around the corner on it, between the bar and the kitchen, you can interact with the Chefs and also they give you tastings of some things on the menu that you have not order. If you go early (we ate at 6pm) its pretty quiet since it is before the dinner rush. Something that was listed as a dessert when we were there, but I would suggest you try it as an app - - - was a cheese plate with raisins on the vine, it was out of this world. Its large enough for 2 to share and has some wonderful cheese options. I ordered it for dessert, but was too full for a cheese plate and wish I had ordered it for the app. Dinner choices are pretty varied (although very heavy on the fish....hence where it is). If you are not into fish, they also have a signature NY Strip Steak, that looked YUMMY....grilled over a wood fire.

I think Jiko at AKL is very romantic. We have been twice and both times the food and service were spectacular. Also, AKL itself is a fun destination. If you arrive around sunset the animals are a little more active and the AKL building is beautiful and filled with artifacts and displays from Africa.

Have a nice time!

Happy Anniversary a bit early. :cool1: Since you stayed at WL on your honeymoon it might be romantic to go back there and have dinner at Artist Point. Otherwise, I'd choose Citricos, Ca Grill, or the Yachtsman depending on which menu appeals to you most.

We were in the same situation last year, with my Mom along to watch the kids on our anniversary. We went to Yachtsman Steak House. We enjoyed it so much we are going back on our anniversary this year, Friday. The food and service was amazing and it was a little more upscale than we usually go with the kids.

As for telling them its your anniversary, personally, I would feel funny if it really wasnt, but I know I'm in the minority on that one. If you are comfortable with it, go for it!

I also love the Yatchsman Steakhouse and can't wait to go back, but think it mighty be a bit pricey for the original poster, hence my suggestion for Flying FIsh. marshallandcartersmo, if you can swing it...definitely do the Yatchman's.

California Grill and the fireworks! BUT they don't come cheap! If you can swing the price and like the looks of the menu, I'd do it!

I tend to agree! Artist Point is wonderful! DH, DD(2), and I ate there two weeks ago and had a wonderful meal with app. and dessert for around $65 after tip!

Check out their menu and decide for yourself, but as far as romance...reliving your honeymoon at the WL for dinner would be a great choice! :goodvibes

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY! :earsgirl:

I'm not sure what price restraints on romance, but I ditto everyone's previous picks and would also add this one for your consideration:
Narcoose's - it's at the Grand Floridian's water edge facing MK. We got there just early enough to get a glass of wine, stroll out onto their deck, watch the "Wishes" fireworks (w/ the music piped in), got sat, ordered our apps, got to watch the pageant show go by... dinner was very good, view was great, then we strolled back through the GFR. WOW! I got to schedule this one again. Good luck w/ your plans. princess: :groom:

thanks everyone for your advice!! Hubby agrees with other posters and wants to head back to WL for dinner.
You guys helped make our decision!!

One more question........I know you have to make reservations for character meals 90days in advance, but what about something like dinner at Artist Point? Do they take reservations that early??

thanks again

I agree with Cleo. CG during Wishes was the most romantic meal my wife and I have ever had. It is quite pricey, but if you can swing it, I'd highly recommend it.

What time did you make your reservations at Narcoossee"s? We are going to be there for our 1st anniversary, on Dec 16th. We actually got married at Disney and had a private reception at Narcoosse's. So if i time things like you it would be great! I know the 16th is a friday. There is a MVMCP that nite. So they would have those fireworks at 9pm. Do they still have the parade on the lake, if so what time would it might be? Then i could order a special dessert from the GF! Thanks

Oh! wow, with the VMCP at 9p I'm not sure then if/how they'll do the pageant, although I bet they will do it. I'd like to think they'll start'em up at 9p right after wishes, maybe? Because it's a special anniversary, I'd call Narocoose's and ask them - or WDW.
P.S. I looked up our itinerary for Dec. - it showed Narcoose's PS at 8:30p.m.
BY THE WAY, we married at Disney in 1998 and our anniversary date is 12/12.
What wonderful GF dessert are you remembering?
