I thought about getting this camera, but I MUST check with some camera experts (which I am not) to see what you think. It is selling right now for 289 & comes with a free 32 MD memory card. What do you all think about this camera?

I don't know anything about cameras. I'll just bump this back to page one and hopefully someone can answer your question.

I'm not exactly an expert, but my friend does have an older model of the camera you are referring to. The main feature that pushed him towards this one was its compact size. He's had it for 2-3 years and I think he is very satisfied, except now that I have a 4 MP Kodak, he sees the difference in picture quality. My Kodak is a little bigger, but it's still pretty small.

2MP is ok for sharing on the web, and 4x6 prints. However, if you plan on getting any enlargements, or want better detail, you might want to think about getting something higher than 2MP, and possibly a higher optical zoom.

If, however, you just want a quality, compact camera for basic digital photos, the Elph should be fine.

I think that this is a good camera in general. I think you could get the same features on a different camera for a little less money but you are paying a little more the size. I have the non-digital version of this camera and I think it is the perfect size! I also have a Canon digital camera and love it. You might want to PM Zurg though as he is great with camera's to get his opinion too :)

We just bought the Canon Powershot A40. It's onsale at Ritz/Wolf, so we took advantage of that. It has a 3x optical with up to 7.5x digital zoom, and is a 2MP camera. Perfect for what I'll be doing with it (which is mostly web stuff with 4x6 prints and the occasional 8x10 print). I love the weight and grip. It has 'real-time' display on it, which means if you watch the LCD you can see exactly what the camera is pointing to in real time. Very nice.

IMHO NOT A CANON. I have a printer(canon) nothing but trouble:(

I have the S200 camera. I am no expert, that's why I love this camera. It's really easy to use, enough power for my purpose. I bought more RAM though. (I thought it came with 8MB, and I bought 64MB). I really don't need that much ram since I download my pics regularly. It' good esp with bright outdoor environment. I also like its small size, and somewhat durable exterior.

You can also go to CNet.com & look at the tech reviews.

My neighbor has the Canon 110 Elph and he loves it. I just bought a Fuji A303, which is just a touch bigger, but has 3MP for $299. I only got it yesterday, so I can't really tell you too much about it, but I wanted a very small camera and really wanted 3MP and a 3X optical zoom.

I am the furthest thing from a "camera" expect - believe me - especially digital!?!?! It is soooooo easy to use.

Suggestions/comments:

Get an extra battery!!!! I think that is pretty common with ALL digital cameras.

It took me a little while to figure out "how" to take pictures. You actually have to hold the button down (for a few seconds) for the picture to register. It is not just a click and go.

I would definitely not hesitate getting this camera!!
