Across the street from where I live. No credit cards, just a bunch of Withdrawl slips from a local bank, and check stubs from Burdines in Broward County. Now, do I call this person the purse belongs too, or throw it away? I also found a prescription for Prozac in it too, and I believe she is a Student. WHAT would YOU do?

I would definitely call the person. Chances are it may have been stolen. Especially since there is a prescription. If she doesn't want it back, then throw it away.

Definitely call, Faith! Is her name on the stubs and slips? If not you can take it to the bank and they'll notify her.

I'm sure she's a wreck wondering where it is!

I think calling her is a great idea.

Will you let us know how it turns out?

If she is missing her doses of Prozac , she is definitley a wreck!! LOL!!!!

why on earth would you even consider for a second throwing it away??????????????????

And yes, let's laugh at people who take Prozac

Her taking Prozac had nothing to do with me wanting to throw it away, my DS was ON prozac! However, this person could have been MURDERED for all I know, or she could have thrown the purse there herself, seeing the school is nearby. Robin: there is a contract of some kind with her name and Phone # on it, I guess I can call tomorrow, and let who ever answers the phone, that we found it.

If something happened to her then it needs to be turned over to the police.
Defintely call her. It sounds like someone stole her purse and wallet and dumped the purse... :(

Exactly what I was thinking. I don't even see it as an option.

How exactly does that explain why you'd want to throw it away?

I'd call her and let her know. As previously mentioned, she could've been robbed. Or, she could've left it on the roof of her car while getting inside and forgot it was up there! I've seen people do that many times!

Why not take it to a police station, tell them you found it, and let them worry about it?

If it were me I would probably call and her and then stick it in the mail to her. I got my purse once and was so appreciate of the person who found it - even though all the money was gone from it I at least got my family pictures and other personal stuff I had in there back.

Stolen too, but there is really NOTHING of Value except the Prescription which is dated Sep. 13. (this is why I would want to throw it away). The "contract" I found, is dated Nov. 17 I believe, so it was stolen between than and now I presume. As far as taking it to the Police station, there is not a Station around here except about 20 min away.:o

It would still be closure for whoever lost it or from whom it was stolen from. It's not for you to determine the value of the items in the purse or the purse its self. If you can identify te owner, contact them, if not take it to a police station near where it was found and let them deal with it.

(the items might not have any value to you, but might have value to the actual owner)

You don't think a contract and pay stubs can be valuable?

I left my bag at a Dunkin Donuts a few months ago. When I remembered that I did, it was too late. They did charge on my credit card. But I kept hoping that the bag was found with my personal belongings. (glasses, pictures, old WDW room key cards) Give the person a piece of mind at least.

I would give it to the police and let them handle it. I found a wallet in the produce section of the grocery store one time and turned it in. Well the lady who lost it was up there reporting it missing. She then accused me of stealing her wallet. I told her that if I would of taken it why would I turn it in??? She made such a scene at the store opening it and checking things to make sure I didn't steal from her. I wouldn't call the person, just let the police handle it.

good point powellrj

You never know what people are going to do these days. It is probably better just to go to the police with it.

Faith,

I would call the police and tell them you found this wallet and let them come to you so they can handle it. Even though you are trying to do the right thing the person could turn ugly and blame you like what happen to powellrj or she could be so thankfull. Its really hard to say what the turn out could be.

Good luck and let us know how it turns out.
