Opinion on San Angel Inn -Mexico

We, too, eat here every time, and we enjoy both the food and the ambiance. We nearly always get the "Surgencia del Chef" which, we think, is always creative and delicious. I also like their queso fundido and magaritas!

Do try it.

LOL. I *JUST* got off the phone with Disney Dining, switching out San Angel for Le Cellier since I'd heard so many good things about Le Cellier and so many negative about San Angel. And then I find this thread, confirming that the atmosphere is worth it, even if the food isn't. Oh, well, there's always next trip!

I haven't eaten at this restuarant, but I hope it's better than the Cantina San Angel. I lived in Mexico City and thought the Cantina's food was no more authentic than Taco Bell. Flour torillas???? I looked at the lunch and dinner menus for San Angel Inn and the lunch one looks much more like authentic Mexican food, with the exception of the tacos made with flour tortillas, that just never happened Mexico City.
Has anyone had lunch here specifically? I saw one of the chef's suggestions was Chiles en Nogada and that's a wonderful dish made in Sept to honor Mexican Independence day. The women of the family I lived with came together and spent all day making the dish. The colors of the dish are red, white and green like the flag. I helped with the pomegranate seeds.

Thank you all for response's we decided to give it a try and made an ADR. The ambiance will be enjoyable in itself along with the Magarita's.

We love San Angel Inn, however, we have a few favorites (not everything is exceptional). These are our favorites. The Queso Fundido is to die for! :woohoo:
