opinion on category 7

yes we have, and we're doing it again in August.

Cat 7 are our favorite cabins. We like being aft and the slightly enclosed verandah. It's also neat to be able to quickly spot your cabin when off the ship.

What is the difference between a category 8 and a 9?

I believe it's just ship location. The cat 9's are mostly on deck 2, I believe the cat 8's are a bit higher up on the ship, which some people consider to be more desireable.

I think cat. 7's are the best deal on the ship. The rooms themselves are the same as the category 5 and 6 rooms. The verandah is enclosed, but still has the large open-air porthole.

My favorite spot is deck 7 aft, and we usually book a category 7 room in this area. I think the price difference between the category 5 and 7 is a more than fair trade-off for the "Navigator's" verandah. After having stayed in both cat. 5 and 7 rooms, we'd only book the cat. 5 again if we got a really great deal.

I agree - the cat 7's are our favorite as well.

And don't forget the "secret" cat 7 rooms on deck 7. These used to be cat 5, but are now 7 because of a slightly obstructed verandah. These special rooms have verandahs that are all open, not enclosed. We booked one for our next cruise, can't wait! On deck 7, they are 7620 and 7120. There are two on deck 6 too. Have fun!

I love Cat 7's. In fact, we rebooked two of those rooms for next August. I love the enclosed verandah. You can sit outside and have your own private space. We had a cat 8 on the June 4th cruise. We REALLY missed the verandah. It's nice to go out there while waiting your turn for the shower, hairdryer, or if you want to take pictures of the ports. We've stayed on deck 6 and 7. We prefer deck 7. We like being a little higher on the ship. For some reason, we don't feel the motion as much the higher we go. One person in our party suffers from motion sickness. Hope this helps.

Do the CAT 7's sleep 4? If they only sleep 3 and I have a CAT 12 booked also, can someone from the CAT 12 sleep in the 7? I am considering booking a 12 and a 7 for 5 of us. 4 in the 7 and 1 in the 12. Since the veranda is enclosed with a porthole opening do you feel that you do not get to see as much?

Some of the 7s sleep four. There is a bed, couch that sleeps one, and a bed that is in the ceiling. That pulls down and hangs over the couch, like bunk beds. I just wanted to tell you that in case you had more than three adults going. We've had three adults in a Cat 7 and had plenty of room for clothes, bathroom items etc. I don't know how the open verandah's are. You can not really see on the cat. 7 verandah unless you are standing up. That doesn't bother me at all. There is a table out there that a 'little' cruiser could sit on to see out. There is also storage space under the bench seat in the cat. 7. We stored a couple of pieces of our luggage out there when there were three adults sharing the cabin.

FYI-If you book a cat 12 (I've stayed in that before too) keep in mind those are located on deck 2. Cat 7's are on decks 5,6, and 7. If you want your group to be closer you can book a cat 11 near the cat. 7 you book on one of the other decks. Cat. 11 is the same room as a Cat. 12 just on a higher deck.

Thanks! I think I will see how much more for a CAT 6 as I want to be able to sit and see out.

How much light do you get in your room with the enclosed navigators veranda? Would it be about the same as a port hole room? We had cat5 when we cruised, but might need to go down to something cheaper next cruise.

according to the passporter none of the cat 7 rooms sleep 4, they all sleep 3.

also, if you book a cat 12 it won't be anywhere near the cat 7.
