Quick Opinion poll people! I'll be taking my girlfriend down to WDW for her first trip this Summer. I do believe she would enjoy seeing Cirque du Soleil. However, I'm not sure if I should book the show show for this trip, or if I should let her enjoy the parks and take them in fully this trip and book Cirque for a follow up trip at some point? I know everything can be overwhelming the first time, so I want to do everything ut not over-do it. Ya know?! haha:flower3:

I think there are a lot of things to take into consideration. How many days is the trip? If it's over 5, then it would probably be a fun diversion, if less than 5 she is probably going to overwhelmed with just WDW. Are you commando or relaxed in your style? If relaxed, the break might be nice, if commando you are going to resent the time away from the park. It's a fun show, we've been twice and have enjoyed it but we are really seat of the pants type people and don't want or need to spend all our time exhausting ourselves running around the parks.

Essentially 9 days in the park. I say essentially because 1 day is the 4th of July in Magic Kingdom (arrival day). Other than that, we're are going to be commando for mornings (rope drop most if not all days), with more relaxed evenings once we've completed everything we want to for the day. Not counting the 4th of July we have 3 days in MK, 2 in DHS, 2 in AK, and 2 in Epcot. I had originally thought it might be a nice addition on an evening we go to AK since I tend to not stay there late, but now with the Rivers of Light potentially being open, staying later could be worth while (and a new experience for both of us). She has said she wants to experience as much as possible, but as I said I don't want to hit that overwhelming rate. I want to make sure she can "stop and smell the roses" so to speak. Plus, knowing me, we'll be going back again in a year or so (2 at the longest).

I think you should definitely do it. 9 days is a lot, and I'd worry that all the impressive park attractions would start to blend together. Cirque would be a refreshing change (as opposed to seeing that 7th fireworks show, for example...)

Use it as a date night away from the parks. Hit up the Hanger Bar pre show and dinner post show. O flip it at do dinner first at the Boathouse, Morimoto, or Ragland road.

Does anyone know if the entertainers on the boardwalk occur every night during the summer?? I wanted to take this is in as well. It looks like the Friday we spend in AK could work. There's a 6:00 and 9:00 show with nearly identical seats available. So I guess I could either take the 6:00 show and stroll the boardwalk afterwards, or dinner somewhere before and take the 9:00 show in. The latter would likely not include the boardwalk, but if that is a nightly occurrence then it's really not too much of an issue.

Good question. You might need to pop over to the resorts board and ask there about availability of performers and what the entertainment might be. There have been mimes, small magic acts, balloon twisters, and jugglers in the past. You might also consider jelly rolls or atlantic dance hall to cap off your evening.

Are you Cirque du Soleil fans? My husband is. He saw the show twice during his first week-long visit to Disney World.

It is great show and would be a nice part of a Disney Springs evening.

Remember, the new show at AK, Rivers of Light will probably be running so you may want to stay later at AK

I'm a fan. It is her trip to WDW and therefore would be her first time seeing it.

That is a concern of mine. I do have 2 days planned at AK, so if it is planned daily (I wouldn't know yet) then I may be ok.

I would say go for it! The first time we saw Cirque, my family did it the night that we got to Orlando. I don't know what your plans are, but we're not the sort of people to go to the parks on a travel day, so it was a perfect beginning to our last vacation. Plus, keep in mind that the parks are totally exhausting during the day time, and Disney Springs is a nice way to relax. I would take a first-timer to Cirque, especially with 9 days of vacay. I would probably also take a first-timer to see a nighttime movie at the Dine-In AMC if they hadn't ever been to a dine-in theater. It's all those little things in addition to the actual parks that I really love.

We've stayed at BWI multiple times in all seasons and I have never NOT seen the performers out at night. I, personally, would not do AK, Cirque and the Boardwalk all in one day. Do the Boardwalk in the evening when you are visiting DHS or EP. It seems you have 2 days in each of those parks, so the evening you aren't seeing Illuminations or Fantasmic, go to the Boardwalk. If you want to have dinner directly on the Boardwalk, Trattoria al Forno is very good. Or, if you like sushi, go to Kimono's in the Swan and for GREAT food, go to bluezoo in the Dolphin.

I would do the Cirque show after one of your AK days. (the one when you aren't seeing Rivers of Light!). Then you can have drinks, dinner and the show (order dependent on which show you choose). There are some great restaurants in DS (we love the Boathouse!) and it's just fun to stroll around. I wouldn't short change that experience by heading all the way over to the Boardwalk after the show.

Thanks everyone! I did go ahead and buy it for her. The seats I found were too good to pass up(almost front and center for a category 2 price). I took the 6:00 show on one of AK days. I figured that way it'd be more manageable if we're tired after doing the park and the show. Also, since we're staying at the Swan, it leaves the option of strolling the boardwalk for food/drinks/performers afterwards if we're not exhausted, or retiring to our room at a reasonable hour if we are.
