Operation Big Thunder: the Dole Whip Conspiracy COMPLETE

Caught up! :cool1: 3 wonderful updates under my belt and the best part - I can SEE your pictures! :yay: The pictures of TL are gorgeous and I am going there this summer, for sure, since we purchased PAP vouchers. I haven't been for years. All I remember is the Crush n Gusher goes fast. Hope I can talk Denny into doing it with me.

I hope he does! Crush 'n Gusher was awesome. Totally worth trying out!

So, I am going to skip on the Star War movie references only because I am nursing a ridiculous cold and can't concentrate to save my life. :headache:

Ugh. Sorry to hear that. Hope you're feeling better.

Dinner at Kona sounds super yummy. I really love that restaurant. And I was expecting some terrible transportation mojo, but I think you hit it just right.

We did have some wait, as usual. But nothing out of the ordinary. Kona really is terrific. It's become a regular in the rotation.

Thanks for the recap of the Jedi training academy. I know that one of my nephews really wants to do it and I know it fills up fast, So you go straight to Sounds Dangerous to sign up?

They'd love it! Yes, get there at rope drop and head for Sounds Dangerous. I have heard about sign-ups occasionally being held at a table near the gates before Rope Drop, or outside by the Jedi stage. But most of the time it's at Sounds Dangerous. You can always ask a CM when you get there. I asked one on the way just to make sure I was heading to the right place. They had a sign out in front of the Sounds Dangerous building, too.

CALLING ALL GEEKS!

At least all the geeks of the Disney and Star Wars varieties.

The Walt Disney Company has acquired LucasFilm!

(Mark, since your last update was Star Wars themed and there are Star Wars quotes in every update, this just seemed like the logical place to share this news.)

So... there is a new Star Wars movie slated for 2015 and I'm a little anxious to hear about any plans that may arise for an expansion of the Star Wars area at Hollywood Studios.

Pretty cool stuff!

No problem, Connie!

And yes, that is cool news. It'll be interesting to see how they handle the new movies. And of course, now the fanboy dream of a Star Wars vs. Avengers movie is a possibility. (not a good one, but still)

I mentioned in the Dads thread that at last we can finally see a proper version of Howard the Duck on-screen. :thumbsup2

I saw that , Connie, and thought that that will ensure that Star Wars Weekends continue on for quite some time.

The deal was for over $4 billion, by the way. That's a lot of galactic credits!

$4 billion?! I might as well buy my own ship for that!

"The Force is strong in this one" is yet another Star Wars reference.

$4 billion?! I might as well buy my own ship for that!

A reference to Star Wars episode I: The Phantom Menace? (edited: I was thinking of the dealings with Watto, but I think Rob is right)

So far in each update either nothing looked like a lie, or everything did. This is one of those times when there are a lot of places that look like a potential untruth. The most obvious would be something related to the scores on TSM. Given that is the case, I'll ignore that part of the story out of hand and take an illadvised left turn toward this one...

We had one family stop in the middle of the row of the theater, so I did my best to crop-dust them as we climbed over them.

With only a five minute wait for the show, it may well have been pretty full and you might not have gotten toward the middle of any row. But a bit of crop dusting upon the deserving would have been funny to be sure.

Wow....that's a lot of people.

Yeah, we knew the honeymoon was over at that point, and it really was July at Disney.

Love this picture.

:goodvibes

As I told Barry in a post on my thread, it's a good thing your kids are cute and you have a lovely wife, or I'd really be ticked off at you. By the way, he looks great in the hat!

Well, I've been riding on their coattails for years now. Why stop now? Anyway, we're not ripping off your hat pictures...we're paying homage. :thumbsup2

Another cute kid!

I think we all know where those genes come from.

Love that Scotty did this...it looks like so much fun(they didn't have this when our kids were small)

I wish they'd had it when I was a kid. Fighting Darth Vader would have been the coolest thing ever!

You go Julie.

:headache:

Love that two of you were Rebel Spies. I take great pride that I was a Rebel Spy in January.

It doesn't happen to everyone. We happy few, we band of brothers...

Oooh...I know where you go to eat. :)

But will we like it? :confused3

Excellent use of smileys.

Or they’ve both already passed the age when your worry about what others might think of you surpasses the urge to have fun.

I hope not. It takes years, sometimes a lifetime, to get rid of that way of thinking.

Ahhhh….
but moms and dads know the difference

Of course we do. Scotty is a master of the stinkeye. The one he gave Darth was a whopper.

No more training, do you require…

Vader...you must face Vader again. Only then, a Jedi will you be.

Video of that would have been priceless.

I almost got it. I think I had cut the camera off by that point, though. Maybe I'll have to double-check.

Yah, but pulling fingers…

That, you’ve mastered. :sad2:
:lmao:

Well, everyone has a spiritual gift.

Honest... I ran out of gas. I... I had a flat tire. I didn't have enough money for cab fare. My tux didn't come back from the cleaners. An old friend came in from out of town. Someone stole my car. There was an earthquake. A terrible flood. Locusts! IT WASN'T MY FAULT, I SWEAR TO GOD!

:rotfl2: +1:thumbsup2 bonus point for perfect movie quote application.

Video of that would have been priceless…

priceless…

priceless…

For some unknown reason, the video camera was turned off at that point.

All the better to disappear into the crowd.

Disguising ourselves as Florida tourists worked well for the Agent P missions. Why not for the Rebellion?

The force was very strong with y’all that day.

Strong indeed…
Great update Mark.

Thanks! Once again, I was glad we squeezed in the stuff we really wanted to see.

So many potential lies here.
I’ll have to over think this one a bit.

:thumbsup2

Excellent use of smileys.

:thanks:

Vader...you must face Vader again. Only then, a Jedi will you be.

Star Wars VI

(This was the first day in weeks that I could follow the boards, so I’m taking advantage of it.)

:rotfl2: +1:thumbsup2 bonus point for perfect movie quote application.

:woohoo:

For some unknown reason, the video camera was turned off at that point.

I can’t imagine why that would have been….

I guess if you stop in mid sentence, well know why.

That reminds me, I recently learned the secret to everlasting wealth and happiness and wanted to share it here. The secret is--

Is that like the Kessel Run?

The TSM fastpass run takes a lot longer than that.

One of these days, someone is going to have to explain to me just exactly what a "camera shy" kid is. Honestly, I have no idea. :confused3

Hopefully you'll never have to find out.

I think Vladimir Pooey and Otto Von Bohn Bonn were getting tired of the death threats to wrap up the show so the angry mob could get to Toy Story.

I say Pooey to the angry mobs. The shows are awesome.

There is! And it's AWESOME! Unless you didn't get to see it. Then it's just OK, I guess.

:headache:

I did not make the same mistake. :thumbsup2

Nice work! I had to choose between this and the Dole Whip shirt. :sad2:

Search your feelings Scotty, you know it to be true.

Scotty searched his feelings. They said, "Can I have a cookie?"

What happened with the Darth Maul kids? Did he talk to them? I don't remember him ever talking in the movie. (Unlike Jar Jar Binks, who never shut up.)

The dialogue remained with Darth Vader. The Darth Maul kids just lined up and fought him, but they did have separate lightsaber sound effects. I could see 2 people manning the sound booth. I was glad Scotty got to be onstage with Darth Vader, though. It might have felt like a ripoff to be down on the ground against Darth Maul.

Then again, if the kids on the ground got to beat the crap out of Jar-Jar, they might have all wanted to do that instead.

Nice Job Scotty!

:thumbsup2

Is there rules to cover that? Like in baseball tie goes to the runner, or in football where simultaneous possession belongs to the offense, even when "simultaneous possession" means catching the person that caught the football?

I'm not bitter.

That sounds like it would be as bad as allowing a guy who is 5 feet offsides to score a goal in a Stanley Cup playoff game.

Diplomas? We don't need no stinkin diplomas!

Just give me the lightsaber instead!

Wait a sec...didn't Julie and Sarah get Fastpasses? I smell a rat.

Not a lie, just a poor description. It happens.

Scotty must get it from his mother. The force is strong with her.

::yes::

When in doubt, blame the replacement refs.

I'm still not bitter.

There, there. Shut up, boy.

Very nice disguise, 007. No one would suspect a schlub like you to be carrying secret intelligence that can bring down the Empire.

Exactly! It's the perfect way to--HEY! :headache::mad:

Mmmm...you had me at cheese...

It is part of the Pantheon.

Caddyshack

+1:thumbsup2

I'm going to use my best Jedi mind trick and say that the lie was that the low score was yours, not Dave's.

Your mind powers will not work on me, boy. Uh, I mean, MissLiz.

Are you still giving out points for Star Wars references? There're about 5 in your last post! Sheesh! :rotfl2:

Well… If you’re just going to leave them there in the dust, I’ll pick ‘em up.
I need to stock up.

I’ll be out of town a good bit of the end of the next two weeks.
(and purposely giving everyone else a chance to catch up a while back worked just a little too well).

Scotty searched his feelings.

A reference to Star Wars V (when Darth drops the daddy bomb on Luke)

There, there. Shut up, boy.

That we'd go away

The Inquistion, oy oy

You were just thinking about a different take on the same idea. :thumbsup2

Yeah thats it. :rotfl2:

Ok, I don't know why, but I'm locking in my final guess on the lie and I have to agree with Rob. :crazy2:

I don't think you crop dusted a family that stopped in the middle of the Muppetvision theater. But if you did... :thumbsup2 :worship:

Yup - been a while - History had French..... :headache:

Sounds like Rob's got you covered. :thumbsup2

Two more Star Wars IV references.

Darth for the first...
Luke in the Cantina for the second.

+2:thumbsup2 I thought it was appropriate to go Star Wars-heavy in this chapter.

"The Force is strong in this one" is yet another Star Wars reference.

Yup, Rob cleaned up here.

Looks like you and Andy are raising suspicion here. It would depend on a couple of factors--that there was actually a family present in the middle of the row, and that I could muster up the necessary gases on command. But the sentence in the chapter does say I "did my best". :scratchin

Shakespeare... "Henry V" I do believe.

+1:thumbsup2 I would also have accepted "Band of Brothers". :rotfl2:

+1:thumbsup2 Can't blame you there.

Just direct quotes. How come you didn't point them out? :confused3

I'm always iffy on giving points when I'm just repeating something a previous commenter said. So I think I'll pass on this one. However...

I think this one is fairly easy, but you never know.

I don't think you crop dusted a family that stopped in the middle of the Muppetvision theater. But if you did... :thumbsup2 :worship:

So is the question a) that the family was even there, b) that I could muster up the odiferousness, or c) that I had the resolve to do it? :confused3

Lie in red.

I definitely don't question that you could muster up the odiferousness. You just didn't crop dust anyone. Whether it was because they weren't there, or you didn't have the resolve to do it isn't what matters. The contest is to point out a lie and I'm pointing out what my best guess is for your lie in this chapter. You didn't say the contest was to point out the lie and then explain how it all really went down. I'm not going to sit here and try to interpret the exact thoughts going through that DelDOT engineer brain of yours. :rotfl::rotfl2::lmao:

Mark, just dropped by to check in........glad you made it through the storm safely!!! :goodvibes

You're assuming that thoughts actually do move though my brain. Usually they start, get off the ground a bit, and then collapse inert.

Mark, just dropped by to check in........glad you made it through the storm safely!!! :goodvibes

Thanks Marv! We did pretty well, although we still have some work to do to clean out the basement. NJ and NYC have it much worse, that's for sure.

Back to only 1 lie in the chapter (and 1 bout of lousy chronological reporting). Scotty did get into the 11:00 show, we did use TSM FastPasses, we did not see the Darth Vader scene :sad1: and Scotty and I indeed were Rebel Spies on consecutive rides of Star Tours.

The lie? There was no one in our way in the Muppet theater, and thus no one in need of a good crop-dusting. Rob and Andy sniffed that one out. (see what I did there? You're welcome, Barry.)

I can't fart on cue, anyway. Although one of my buddies in college actually did have that...er...talent. You can decide if that's a) disgusting or b) hilarious. I fall into the b) camp, obviously.
