Operation Big Thunder: the Dole Whip Conspiracy COMPLETE

In addition to the kids all looking like they lost their best friend, there sure is a lot of loot in the back of that van. So yeah! :cool1: A second mortgage indeed!

There's a big difference between the two pictures in terms of the amount of crap in the back, isn't there? :lmao:

Beautiful pictures of Kidani.

:thanks:

Is leaving harder when you have to drive? I'm just curious since we will be driving this summer. I want to be thoroughly prepared.

Yeah, I think it is. When you fly, you have a set time you have to leave, and there's no choice in the matter. When you drive, you set your own schedule, and it's easy to make up excuses as to why you can stay just a little bit longer...

So 5 hours to Savannah. I was wondering about the distance. I'd like to make it to south of Savannah on the way down.

You can definitely make it to Georgia in a day, but you'll be driving all day long.

Curious to see if you did a St Augustine drive by. I really want to see that town.

Stay tuned...popcorn::

Good play on the theme.

"Check Point: Heartbreak"
Might have been more appropriate, but still…

Hmm. I didn't think about doing emotional checkpoints.

Don’t we all?
But arriving at that point does mean that you were traveling (and right now, that’s something I wish I was doing).

Me too. I pretty much always wish I was traveling somewhere.

Nice choice… and you have a lot of time to explore new things

Unless, of course, we don't. :rolleyes1

Good ideas all… I like the creativity of number-3 (it even has some clandestine elements that would fit nicely into the Operation Big Thunder story line), but I suspect that’s not the one you went with.

Probably too many logistics to pull it off. If only we'd had more time to plan.

So long as it’s not a “Molotov”… things like that tend to upset the Homeland Security folks.

Oh sure, now you tell me.

Haven’t stayed at AKL yet, but having been on property several times, I can agree with this observation.

We generally find ourselves in the moderates, but the time we’ve had to spend at Wilderness and Beach Club (which is high on our list o experiences) will change your perspective

…and spoil you rotten in the process.

I'm there with you. Most of the time we will be in the moderates (POR or the FW cabins as long as we have 5 people) and we'll be thrilled to stay there. Wilderness and AKL were bucket list items, and well worth the effort to stay there.

Zazu elevator?

Odd detail…

It is, isn't it? Meaning it's either a lie, or a red herring.

We refer to this process as conducting an “Idiot Check”

When Julie does that, she just looks for me. :confused3

Important Empire business to attend to I’m sure.

Does the Empire have an office holiday party? Just wondering.

Being as that “prediction” is based on a calendar devised by a couple million folks that lacked the clairvoyance to see that they’d be completely wiped out by only a couple hundred mercenaries arriving via sea (and a half a millennia prior to the end of said calendar), I think we can take their prediction of future events with a large grain of salt.

So… go on ahead and spend the extra bucks on the Christmas gifts.
Good plan.

This reminds me of the time I saw an office for a "Psychic Reader" with a For Sale sign out front. Shouldn't she have known who was going to buy the property? Why waste the money on advertising? :confused3

Most of the cast members form “The Birdcage”?
PeeWee Herman perhaps?

Maybe the Village People?

Mine to. It inspired both a particularly good update in a previous TR and one of the best “Bonus Features” that I’ve ever fabricated… errrr… I mean painstakingly researched.

I know about the previous TR update, but which bonus feature are you referring to?

So much for you… how did the kids take it.

Like I said…

Good call! You must have read one of my TR's before.

Sounds, uh, foreboding.
That one should be interesting.

Of course you could always just make stuff up.

Shh! You'll give away my secrets.

You might be a little disappointed in our lunch destination.

"Be careful what you shoot at. Most things in here don't react too well to bullets."

Hunt for Red October

"And now for something completely different." - Monty Python

You could make pineapple shrimp, lemon shrimp, coconut shrimp, pepper shrimp, shrimp soup, shrimp stew, shrimp salad, shrimp and potatoes, shrimp burger, shrimp sandwich...- Forrest Gump

Do you know what the penalty is for animal cruelty in this state? ...well, it's probably pretty stiff. Vacation

All drains lead to the ocean- Finding Nemo

"You Americans, you're all the same. Always overdressing for the wrong occasions." Raiders of the Lost Ark

My goodness, you're working hard her. All of the quote have been claimed, but I'm going to award you a bonus point so your efforts are not unnoticed.

+1:thumbsup2

I can't even think about that part of a trip today...

Just know that I'm insanely jealous while you're in the World. But I know this day will come up sooner than you want it to as well.

Come on, give us some credit. We knew what you were going to do as soon as you left us with a cliffhanger on the last update. Nice list, but not needed.

Now wait just a minute. We value our country's history and culture very highly in our family, and certainly gave serious thought to leaving a mere theme park behind in order to have an authentic travel experience--

Ok, sorry, I just can't keep going with a straight face.

Now if that isn't a ringing endorsement for AKL, I don't know what is.

::yes::

He must be from the Extra Terrestrial side of the family. Going to be hard to phone home with one arm though. :rotfl::rotfl2::lmao:

I guess that means he'll be right here.

:rotfl2::lmao::rotfl: Well played, Julie!:worship:

Laugh it up, fuzzball. :headache:

Is there any other reason to go to DTD??? :confused3

To buy all the Disney stuff you forgot to grab in the parks?

:thumbsup2 It is pretty awesome.

Lego creations rule!

They say a picture says 1000 words, but these 2 combine to say a heck of a lot more than that.

They pretty much mirror the adults' feelings as well.

Wouldn't be a Captain Oblivious TR without a unique lunch spot. :rotfl2:

This one was purely accidental, too!

And the lie is that you didn't find my long lost relative. :rolleyes1 :rotfl::rotfl2::lmao:

How do you know? Have you done DNA testing?

:p

Untitled.jpg

You volunteered to take pictures in front of a building?

that head is totally photo shopped on there.

Took the words right out of my mouth...:rotfl2:

:rotfl::rotfl:

Amazing contrast between arriving and departing facial expressions... I am right there with them. :sad2: Why can't we all just live there??

If only we were independently wealthy, then we could buy into Golden Oaks.:thumbsup2

Great pictures of AKL. The last day always sucks. In your case I can imagine it sucks worse since you have to drive. :headache:

You certainly want to linger as much as you can. So we did.

You are hilarious... budget and Disney in the same sentence? BUUHHHHAAAAHHHHHHHHHH :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl2: :lmao:

Truth. ::yes::

Wow, talk about an obscure reference! :worship:

+1:thumbsup2

Yes! Although, in fairness to conference calls, the vote was very close. ;)

A win is a win is a win.

Star Wars: episode V - The Empire Strikes Back

+1:thumbsup2

I have an excuse for missing the last update...I was sick all last week and heading to bed early so I could get better for my trip in three days. ;)

I love that you stayed on Disney property as long as you could. Beautiful pictures around Kidani. And, you are right, Jambo's gift shop is awesome!

Glad you also got to go to DTD and spend the savings account (I'm fearful how high they jack the prices when we are there this week).

The comparison pictures...so happy, so sad. Here's hoping the little kids AND THE BIG KID get back there real soon.

Exactly :lmao:

This one here:

Dragon’s Breath

And thanks for the plug.

One or two. :thumbsup2

I certainly hope you're feeling better now. One of the DISDad man laws is that you're not allowed to be sick at Disney World.

None of us really wanted to re-enter the real world. And did you know that Jambo House is opening an annex of their gift shop in Delaware? On Christmas morning, our family room is going to basically have all of the same merchandise in it.

Glad you also got to go to DTD and spend the savings account (I'm fearful how high they jack the prices when we are there this week).

I hear they discount the prices during the holiday season.

Ok, not really.

Me too! I wish I knew when that was going to happen again. We have some ideas...I'll share them in my wrap-up chapter.

exactly what i was thinking when i saw that. mr olympian.

Has Glenn been tested for PED's?:confused3

Very nice! :thumbsup2 :rotfl2:

Dragon’s Breath

And thanks for the plug.

Ah, there it is. That was an awesome bonus feature (and my favorite). I just couldn't locate it quickly yesterday.

I anticipate giving you another shameless plug in the next chapter.

You can't deny that we spruced it up a bit. I'm like a one-man civic beautification project. ....wait, that didn't come out right. ;)

As a specimen, yes, you're intimidating.

There aren’t a lot of details that stand out as potential perjury in this update (and I haven’t seen too many serious guesses at it either). Most of this one seems perfectly plausible and that’s a problem, because it means the fib may be subtle indeed (or I’m just very dence). I liked the Zazu elevator reference as an extreme detail, but there is such, it is located in the end of the building y’all were staying in and it does lead down to the parking area. Verdict… red herring.

Another possibility was the off hand statement about hanging out in the “toy store” toward the end of the DTD excursion. It seemed an unnecessary addition, but it’s still both plausible and reasonable.

Hummmm...
I don’t like my chances, but I’m going with this one:

For some reason, Darth Vader wasn't there to see us off.

I don’t know why I think this, but I say that y’all did in fact see that critter just before leaving Kadani
(now watch it be something related the type or price of the stuff y’all bought in the gift shops).

The lie in this chapter is indeed more subtle (and yes, there's only one). I thought some of you might be able to deduce it based on some of the comments that have been directed at me in the past.

I think the lie has something to do with shopping at the Kidani and Jambo House gift shops. I believe that you did get some Generic Winter Holiday gifts there, but that one of you got them while the other took the kids around to do some animal viewing or something. Something's fishy in that section of the narrative.

By the way, I still crack up when I see those Arrival and Departure pictures. I think Sarah's look in that departure picture says a lot. :scared:

for the lie im going to say that the kids did not shop in the pin traders, as i dont remember you saying that yo uguys did pin trading?

either that or that the animals did not go back for morning meal times, at least i dont think they do that.

if either is right use it as my final answer.
