Opening the parks

Does anyone know if they still have 2 families open the parks at the EMH? And if so, how you can get to be one? Last time we were there in 2003, we were lucky to meet a couple that had done it before and they managed to get us to do it at the Magic Kingdom one morning. Would love to do it again.

We were at EMH this past Friday morning. At 8am they had a pre-recorded message that said for everyone to welcome the magic families, then the rope dropped. No character train or formal opening, and only a couple of characters on Main Street. I dont know what they did at 9am for the regular opening, as we were going in to the Stitch Encounter..

For opening of MK, they always had two families in the past. One on each side of the gates. Our son has opened the MK twice in the past. We got there very early and chatted up the CMs at the gates. We were first in line at one of the gates.

I could only hope one day this could happen to us. We are hoping to be early risers this year and be there before park opening !!

For those who have opened up MK, how early were you there? Any tips on how to be the lucky family that opens?
