Open Port Orleans Already!-Opening OCT 14th & 28th!!!!

I wasn't interested in either, so Movies it is.
Anyway, yes I'm willing to pay the above for Port Orleans.
Take my money Disney. Haha!
I too am booked at movies but would pay the higher rate for FQ
Yup, another one here booking a trip ASMo instead of PO. December we stayed at AoA as well. I just really liked the themed resorts.

My favorite Disney World trip I stayed in one of the Royal Rooms at Riverside. Would love for things to reopen so I can give French Quarter a try.
Yes! Royal Rooms are also my favorite :lovestruc

We've only stayed at FQ and Alligator Bayou. I'd love to try a mansion or Royal room next.

Mansions, specifically Magnolia Terrace Bldg 85 are my fav and I've stayed in all 4 above and every section of Magnolia Bend except Oak Manor. We are renting points 10/2-10/8 with split stays at SSR and BCV. If POR reopens we are considering adding a night at the end. I've checked airfare tho and it's crazy expensive so that's the bigger issue. We booked SW as soon as they opened and got great rates. Now it'll cost us another $500 to change return date.

My home resort. If it opened tomorrow I would be there working from old man Island. Sadly my prediction is we won't see Riverside for a while if ever. FQ maybe due to its size might have a chance. Just be prepared for bad news on PO. Gonna be years before intl travel will resume to fill rooms.
I agree...I think less room inventory until International travel restrictions are lifted and who knows when that will be. When these "flood gates" do open, I'm sure we'll see everything opening up again to meet the demand.

Was really hoping for some information by now. My travel agent will be booking our trip for next year next month once it opens up for our dates. I know the odds are decent that POFQ will be open by next December, but since nothing has been announced we will have to book our backup and then switch. Just annoying.

Ugh totally feeling this. I need to add 2 nights, for a pre-BWV stay, and it would be nice to nab POR. We just stayed at CBR, so something different would be nice. I currently have a DA hotel booked for those 2 nights but if POR does open before then (Feb), I’ll switch over. Otherwise I might switch to CBR, I haven’t decided. I might stay put. Lol I’d like to be onsite so they’ll move our stuff for us.

Interesting that construction permits have been filed. Of course we don’t know what they are for. Does anyone know if this happened to other resorts before they reopened?

I was wondering this as well - could it be as simple as paint and minor rehab? Well, I suppose we will find out. Hoping they open soon - I'd like to book a night ahead of our WL stay in Feb.

My first thought was that construction permits meant it was less likely that they would reopen the resorts soon. Generally you don't want to shove guests into a place you're doing major rehab on if you can help it, and the resorts being shut down makes it easier to prevent that in a way that isn't usually possible. But I don't know the ins/outs of Florida permit laws: could it be necessary for paint and minor spruce-up projects?

Wait... wasn't POR kind of in the middle of some of the refurb work when the shutdown occurred? (Maybe I'm mis-remembering LOL it's been a day or three!) Maybe this is more like an extension of an existing permit that expired during the shutdown, as opposed to "new" construction?

That is possible. I do think it is the norm though to spruce it up before reopening. It has been shuttered over a year

Doing a quick check around the 'ol interwebs, it appears that the permits that were pulled are indeed for "general" construction (which can be almost anything - from new flooring to paint, to window or door replacement... maybe a new roof... I'm not a contractor, nor do I play one on TV LOL ) for the main check-in buildings at POR/POFQ, and one outbuilding at POR. That's good news; with the Resorts closed, it shouldn't take long for any work to be done (I can't imagine anything too drastic; Disney keeps their Resorts in great shape to begin with) and so I'm hopeful they will have our Home Away From Home beloved Port Orleans open sooner rather than later! (keep all fingers and toes crossed, and all your appendages inside the ride vehicle at all times LOL)

I have Pop booked for marathon weekend but am hoping to switch to POFQ. I could see maybe holding off on POR and opening POFQ. I wonder if they are having trouble with getting enough staff to fully reopen it.
