Open Port Orleans Already!-Opening OCT 14th & 28th!!!!

Port Orleans Riverside is what we call our home resort..
So I'm having a lot of Faith, Hope and a ton of Pixie Dust...

Same for us! Crossing fingers and toes and everything else.

Do you know to what extent they were updated? Did they change them out like so many of the other resorts.... like Coronado..... carpet removed, vinyl floor in, sinks and new bath fixtures, etc?? We were at POR last in 2017 and the rooms were so worn out..... it was bad! But we absolutely love the theming and grounds and the boat to DS. We are hoping to return to POR or POFQ next year!

I was last at POFQ in Sept 2019. The rooms have been renovated as others have said and Sassagoula Floatworks had been refurbished in the past few years. I honestly can't think of anything they need to do at that resort. I love that pool and walking around the grounds. I do agree the "modern" soft goods in the room took away a bit of the charm for me but I do think the rooms look need and tidy.

2. Disney, have a safe, well-lit walkway between the Port Orleans resorts and EPCOT. (EPCOT's parking lot is across the road from Port Orleans.) I like to walk, & I don't like Disney World busses. You'll need stairs and either ramps or elevators to get over the road. I'll settle for a skyway, mini-monorail, train or submarine.

Looks like it's about 1 mile from Riverside's front doors to the front of Epcot, as the crow flies. I would also like to see this option, but not sure how many would make that walk. (we would) Even at a measly 3 mph pace that's only a 20 minute walk, and you don't have to rely on WDW transportation.

Why walk. Have them dig a moat to the Trams.

I am not sure how practical a walkway can be implemented from Port Orleans to Epcot given the varied terrain. There would be problems with hostile snakes, automobiles, alligators and even people that could spoil your vacation before help can be summoned and arrive.

This is a chicken and egg problem, second guessing whether would be enough guests to provide safety in numbers.

I wonder if there is a reason for not putting in a walkway?

From the mid-point between the two resorts, over Bonnet Creek and Epcot Center Dr. to the Wonder parking section looks very doable. Maybe the cost to maintain escalators/elevators for the needed elevated walkway would be prohibitive...

After they did a rope drop at Epcot this morning I surely thought there would be an announcement POR was re-opening. One miracle at a time I guess.

I’d love to stay there. Haven’t done so yet. We are going back to WDW in Oct 2022. If POFQ is open, we might switch to that resort!

In the article about Fishing Excursions coming back to the resorts, it also mentions briefly that Riverside's catch and release fishing would be opening "soon". Now, who knows what "soon" is, but I saw that and thought..."I hope their "soon" is like my "soon"! We aren't going until October, so .....maybe...

I think somewhere down the road Disney will add more Skyliner routes and this would be one I think they would definitely consider.

That is significant in my way of thinking. Hope is kindled.

We've got Grand Destino booked for late October but are really hoping to be able to switch to either Riverside or FQ. With capacity seemingly increasing all the time I can't imagine they aren't fully open by the 50th

They have to hire up empty resorts Bunn. May take time. I have BWI booked for end of August. They open POR before that I am switching too, and I got a pin code for BWI.

Im hearing some rumblings about another all stars resort reopening in July that hasnt been announced yet and....Port Orleans opening in August.
I would think French Quarter would open first since its small and easier and then Riverside. Either way I think next week should be a very newsworthy week with announcements. Exciting times.

Sounds very plausible with the first wave of College Program Cast Members hitting town this month.

Add in the strong rumors of Fireworks returning by Independence Day and July/August could really be MILESTONE months.
