Open Mike Night - Everyone is Welcome

Oh no Twinkie, Can't do with out a wash machine especially after a vacation. My wash is done but the ironing is still sitting there. I have to try what Moo said.

UMA isn't it really cold there.Your poor puppy. Hope he does come home.

MommyP your kids are so cute. I miss that there is no more babies either. They grow up so fast. I saw that this trip with my kids. They are so independent now. And now Hannah can read and so you can't get away with writing notes so they don't know what we are saying.

I am still really tired today. I felt sorry for the kids this morning when they went to school. It is really cold out too.

Well DH said to just leave it alone and he would look at this evening. Like that is going to do anything... but I understand the urge. Just like when I hear a baby fussing I want to grab it from the poor mama because I am sure that I can work fussy baby magic. Actually right now I am tempted to start dismantling the thing cause
a)I own a screwdriver
b) I took a whole semester of engineering physics so that should qualify me for something besides being able to draw stick figures of 70 kilo guys on frictionless surfaces
c) I just want to do something
d) I halfway expect to see some obvious error like a halfway connected wire or some part fizzing smoke

Yes MommyP it is from 97 so is my marriage. But Maytags are supposed to last 20 years!!!!! Except for now they are owned by whirlpool. Geesh. I wouldn't even mind just buying a new one but I am hoping that we are going to move in the next few months and the whole reason to get a new one is to not have to move and re-hook-up the thing.

(pause for Princes Twink to pick out some smilies :dance3:  :dance3: :cloud9: :laundy: :hourglass :cheer2: pirate: princess: :grouphug: popcorn:: :santa:  :cool2: )

I guess I will just be thankfu that I have a washer and don't need to beat my clothes on rocks. And that it didn't leak all over the floor. Yeah.

I am tired too Nab. How is the sunburn?

Last edited by TwinkieMama : Today at 11:50 AM. Reason: A week without laundry? Perish the thought! We don't own enough clothes.

I'm still not quite caught up. :rotfl:

Disposible Clothes! It's the wave of the future! ((Cue Carousel of Progress music)). Make some pretty frocks out of Kitchen size Hefty bags and for DSYummyBaby, use Walmart bags.

You DO know how to fix it, right??? Wait till DH is home and start getting quotes over the phone for Service Calls, or parts, or actual replacement washers from local appliance stores. But reallly, call me, and I'll pretend it's REALLY expensive for us to even come out to have a look-see. Be Cool, Twinkie. It's as easy as browning ground beef 20 minutes before DH comes home from work, or looking busy so he thinks you've done something that day....Oh my, I'm good at this marriage stuff!

Howdy friends!! :hippie:

I hope you all had fun watching the game. I didn't watch any of it, but DH did. And he Tivod it for me in case I get the urge. I probably won't! :teeth:

Toots, my son runs runs a pizza hut, he is busy tonight, LOL. Seems lots of people order pizza. At least till half-time, he figures by then everyone has ordered and he might come over. I hope he remembers to bring my tv back (and hook it back up).

DS just called from Pizza Hut, everything went fine till 6:10 and then they got flooded with 80 orders or wings! Has nobody any feelings for fast food workers?

Marita, sorry, I guess I had no feelings for my Pizza Hut last night, cause I went ahead and ordered during the game (nervy, I know!). I ordered my chow and they delivered it in about an hour, which I thought was pretty good. It was wonderful! :flower3:

I just read through today's messages (when I should be working) and I must say, I do feel sorry for you, but it's hard to when I'm so busy laughing at your comical description of your woes. As long as you have such a great sense of humor, life will never get you down. And BTW 1997 was a good year for getting married. :thumbsup2. Before I get back to what I should be doing, I have to share my broken dryer story. The heating element hadn't been working for a while. The dryer ran, but produced no heat. Lowell is Mr. Fixit for nearly anything, but he was busy, so we called the appliance repairman. When I walked into the house, Lowell and the repairman were laughing. Lowell says, "Well, we found the problem." He holds up an underwire from my bra and says, "This was shorting out the heating element!"

Did you fix the washer Twinkie.

My sunburn is looking good now. My lovely hubby came home for lunch and took me out. He thought I could use it . He was right. I told him he was lucky he didn't chase you away with that hat he was wearing at the airport.:lmao:

Kay did you say that wire wasn't yours, never saw in your life right.

Hubby is putting the pictures on the computer as we speak so maybe I can show one tonight.

Once when my washer bit the dust ........hubby came home and put it on a different cycle......the timer was gone and didnt work on the regular cycle I used for EVERYTHING......it emptied the water at least and I got a new machine....
Its okey.....my clicker on my gas stove isnt working so I had to light a thingie to get the flame on the stove......when hubby pulled it out yesterday he must of did something to the electric igniter or something.......I know what it is called.....

I just wanted to let you know that I am not a nice person.....I dont plan on it and dont want anyone to think I am......My mom has driven me nuts since last week and today she spent two hours in the chair waiting for a van that never came and when I called they said that she did not have an appointment today....so called the wound center at the hospital and they have no appointment today......she has one tomorrow.....I could go nuts but will wait.....my brother and sister are really good honest......but they dont have her living in their home 24/7....she is upstairs ...I know in my heart she needs assisted living or a nursing home to care for her legs and to care for her.....PERIOD........My head is splitting...good bye....just carryon.....

As I was the only female in the house, and didn't want to make the repairman think Lowell was a cross-dresser, there was no one else available to blame.

I'm glad to hear your sunburn is doing better. I would love to see some of your pictures.

Wow, Pumba. My thoughts and prayers are with you, for whatever that's worth. I heard someone mention something about your Mom last night, but didn't page back far enough to see what they were referring to.

You are right that there comes a point where you cease to do an aged parent a favor by keeping them in your home when they need more constant and professional care. If you are as stressed as you sound, you need to call a family meeting and seriously discuss plan B. My stepfather was resistant about putting my mother in a home. She didn't want to go, and he took care of her, but grudgingly, and it was a miserable existance for both of them. And for me, too, who was always stuck in the middle of their fueds. He finally got to the breaking point and was so unstable and threatening that her Doctor convinced her she needed to get out of that house before he did something to harm her. Now, after a lot of things have gone by since then, he has nothing to do with her and she is in a nursing home near my house. She wasn't happy about "giving up her freedom," but it all worked out okay and she is happy now, and getting the care she needs.

:wave2: Hi, everyone. My computer connection was on the blink last night, so I'm having to play catch up tonight.

Ooooohhhh! Pictures please, Nab!!! Maybe they would help me feel a litle warmer.

We had a sprinkler pipe break in our building today, so the fire alarm went off. It was SO cold outside. I ended up getting in my car and running an errand until they gave the 'all clear' to go back in. We had lots of water run down through the ceiling and walls on my floor. Fortunately, not near where my office is located. I sure hope we don't end up with a mold/mildew problem. The sprinkler water was kind of stinky.

Pumba - I agree with Kay. It sounds like it may be time, as hard as it may be, to move your mom into assisted living or a nursing home. Can you look into whether there are any openings where your MIL is? That would save some wear and tear on you and your DH. Sounds like it would be MUCH less stressful and you could get back to enjoying visits with your mom again and she can get the care she needs.

My grandmother has really enjoyed the activities where she lives, especially the musical programs, Bingo, and church. She can't do as much now as when she first moved there, but when I visited her on her birthday, she was in the Great Room at a "concert". I think most places nowadays also have exercise classes geared toward seniors, so that might help her legs.

Twink - Any update on the washer? I have had more dryer problems than washer problems. My DH can fix a lot of electircal and mechanical problems, but we usually call the repairman for major appliances. Although, he has nursed our dishwasher along for years.

Kay - Loved YOUR dryer story!

Uma - Poor wuppy! Keep us posted, please.

Hubby made me do it.....pics going going gone.
