Open Mike Night - Everyone is Welcome Part 3

just got the call
poppa passed away around 3a.m.
I have to call DH now and I am dreading it

Kelly!!!! Oh no! So sorry for your loss!

Did you call him yet? That's rough, but you can do it!

 So sad! Love to you and your family!!!

Kelly - I hope things go well! I've never been close to any of my Grandparents, but I had a "Maw-Maw" and a "Paw-Paw" that I was close to. They just weren't blood relatives.

Uma - I would be embarrassed to show my pantry. I have 2 and they are bad! I wish I had a mud room. My laundry room is big enough for the washer and dryer and the door to the kitchen barely even clears the dryer. :rotfl:

Nab - I did eat. I didn't eat breakfast, just now has some low fat chicken noodle soup with wheat saltines. I hardly ever eat at regular times. I am not a breakfast person, so I eat mid morning, then I'm not hungry for lunch. So I either eat mid afternoon and then I'm not hungry for dinner, or I skip lunch and hold out till dinner.

Twinkie - I am going to rest, I've been sitting here reading a TR this morning, soon I will kick the children out and watch Tori and Dean Inn Love. :rotfl:

I called my sister and told her I was too tired to go to the park.

Hi Grammy my lost lost Mother! Did you hear the news? You're going to be a Grammy again. ;)

To the Others: Yes, I didn't mean that in a bad way. Do not hold that against me. I am a goog girl. We just don't know what to call you anymore!

Hey guys!

Long time no "talk". I have been visiting the "estate" at the coast.

Kelly - I don't believe we have met but I am sorry about your loss. :grouphug:

I have only read back one page - saw Moo's wedding picture. Too much trouble to pull stuff out of frames, etc, so I pulled this out of the little album. Seems we have more than a name in common. Check out this picture of me and my Mom. The bottom of my dress is slightly different but the top is identical:rotfl2: :lmao:

It is a small, small world. you made a lovely bride

:dance3: :dance3: :dance3:

Your twinner dresses were beautiful!!!! You look like you're 16!!! So innocent...

UTM - I was 12 :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: Thanks for saying I looked innocent. It was probably a stretch, even then :upsidedow

I really can't wait for Moo to see. It is too funny our dresses were almost identical. I bet we both thought we had the only one :rolleyes1

MommyP - congrats :yay: :yay: Hope this time you get a princess:

Off to clean - or to hide the crap

Poly - where was your estate? Our's is in Cape May. Love it there. Are you the Poly from trivia???? I am formerprince symbol, the one that brings up the rear everyday:sad2:

:dance3: :dance3: :dance3:

Hey Grammy

yes, I'm the trivia poly-i love that game! I missed a Jesus/Mary Magdalene question today! 12 years of Catholic school right down the hopper!
I always saw your trivia name as formerprinceSSsymbol and just realized last week what it actually is! Guess I speed reading !

We went to Sea Isle for over 30 years. I love Cape May! and I love the Cape May Zoo!

Kelly -- So sorry to hear about your loss  That is a short span between the two.

Mommy P -- glad you ate. It's not when is how much. 2 eggs yesterday sure didn't sound like much until dinner. Did you crave anything when you were pregnant with the boys?

Grammy -- Lace was big back then. My Mom's dress is all lace and her bridesmaids wore hats like that. Were the bridesmaids in blue by chance? Or that one flower in your bouquet your something blue?

UMA-- So what do you do with all the stuff in the cubby. Move it to another spot? That is what I find myself doing when I clean stuff, just moves to another part of the house to get to later...:rotfl2:

Hi Nab!

We decided the best course of action is no action. We know that he is waiting for us to react, soooooo, we won't satisfy him there. We aren't sure just how loose a cannon he is - he always has been weird and used to make some suggestive comments to me. since my husband works at night , we don't want to stir the pot. you never know what some of these idiots will do, even if this particular idiot is in his 80's. So, I'm sure he is watching for us to do something, but he can grow older watching :rotfl:
My husband may mount some annoying security lighting on that side of our property :rotfl:

Nab - I am not often very hungry, which is why sometimes I don't eat as much as others. However, yes I have had cravings with my past pregnancys. I've craved Tuna salad on a specific German bread, I've craved Liverworst on Saltines, Fruity Pebbles(the soap smelled like it so everytime I took a shower I HAD to have it) and of course, ice cream.

Calling ALL pretty pretty princessess!

So I got a stylish new haircut last week. Long layers. Dear stylist used a flat iron and I looked like a Movie Star.

Now I just look like a mom with long layers. And straight hair that ocssionally decides to curl in odd places.

So should I buy a flat iron? what do I need to know? ceramic technology? instant on??????

Is this going to ruin my hair? If I spend 20 dollars at walmarche or tarjay will I get a quality product?

I am I really going to use this????

Is it hard?

Please help,
your friend
the geek:3dglasses

Dear Ms Geek (not the circus kind!):
I suck at hair, but even I can do the flat iron thing. Go for it! Just don't get the really narrow ones cuz it takes longer. I don't leave it long on one section, I run it through my hair kind of like a slow comb. I have a metal one and it works fine, but I hear good things about the ceramic ones.
Now ask me how many times I've flat ironed my hair in the past year? umm. once or twice?
I be lazy.

also, blush and bashful are just puuuuurrrrfect for a wedding.

Alice - sorry for your loss.

Marita - I want a roomba! Just to mess with the dogs. But I didn't know they make one that mops too.

Nab - Yeah, the guy who plays house is british. Hugh laurie. I think he's soooo cute when he speaks with his real accent. It shows how good he is that he never slips up at all on house.

Utah - we went to the disney outlet yesterday too!!
Ok. Normally I hate the new disney stores and the disney outlets cuz the stuff is just crap!
But this time, look at all we got:
A little aquarium that lights up and makes nemo and the tank gang swim and has a little net so you can get them out and fake food
a six inch plush Jessie, Woody and buzz
a little plush purse like thing shaped like Pooh's tree with a little pooh (about 4 inches)
an Ariel plate

All of that for 16 bucks!!!! Woo!

Ohhh! and I got a present for Utah Mama at another store.
So I need you to PM me your address so I can send it to you.

Grammy and Moo - thank you so much for showing us your pictures! You are both so purty! I'll see if I can dig my wedding pictures out and show you all (yes, I was married once. For 51 weeks). My groom wanted an armadillo cake fr his groom's cake. I tried my best, but couldn't get it to look right. So he settled for german chocolate.

MommyP - you better eat right and take care of little Mannah Poppins!

Hi Poly!
Hi BetsyWesty!
Hi anyone else I missed!

I'm not cleaning the pantry today, but I'm still moving from one cube to another. And have a big mess in both.
:sad2: It's very cluttered.

Okay. Honestly guys. What do you think of the name Noah Jude. Noah is obviously my choice, Chad picked Jude. Though you don't know my last name, it does "go" with it.

MommyP, I like Noah, I am not crazy about Jude, but it works fine as a middle initial. I wouldn't argue too much about a middle name myself.

Posting from the bat phone, so I couldn't quote :(

Grammy!!! I've missed you. Glad the wedding photo brought you here for a visit! It IS unbelievable how similar our dresses were.

We both also have big, cuddly hubbies too . . .

You should see how similar Eeyore/Sandy's dress over on the DISappearing Peeps thread is as well, LOL.

It sure must have been a popular style back then. Much better for me than all the strapless dresses they have out nowadays.

My hubby would love for me to have longer hair like I used to have, but it just isn't in the cards!

Kelly, so sorry to hear about your loss. I agree with whoever said it before about how hard a double loss like that can be.

Back later after swim class.

Okay. Honestly guys. What do you think of the name Noah Jude. Noah is obviously my choice, Chad picked Jude. Though you don't know my last name, it does "go" with it.

Of course we know you last name. It is Poppins. Duh!

I love Noah. Especially since you already have a Seth my other Old Testament favorite. Personally I am not crazy about Jude. Blame the Beatles. And Judas Iscariot. And some chick I knew in college named Jude. It suited her.

However like you said your have already picked 8 boy names so your favorites are long gone. Chad likes it. It is a middle name and kind of has a cowboy sound. If it doesn't give you the heebie jeebies I would say go for it. J is a great middle initial. And Noah doesn't lend itself to a whole lot of middle names.

It the Twinkie family Jared has been a contender for every baby. We both like it. Only I would want to spell it as "Jared" (which is in my opinion the "normal" way and how it is spelt in the Bible- yes I know Biblical spellings are based on old english tradition not in actual Hebrew knowledge but that is what looks right to me) and DH wants "Jarod" which looks like Ja-rod to me.
So no Twinkie child is named Jared or Jarod because we are arguing over ONE LETTER that doesn't change the pronunciation. But that is us. So you might want to take any thing I say with a great big shaker of salt.

By now lots of our friends have Jareds, Jarods, Jarretts et al. No offense to any Jarods out there. I am sure you wouldn't name your kid Twinkerbell. Or Golden Child. But I did. :thumbsup2

Celery- by all means post wedding pics! I would if a) I had a scanner b) DH would let me. And 51 weeks is a long time.... DS's mom had a marriage that lasted 24 weeks... and the guy was deployed for 20 of them.

I have a friend who named his boys Jesse and Jentry. His and his wife's first names and last names start with J as well. So they are all JJ
