hi all! The baby had to go to the hospital.

he wouldn't eat all day and he has jaundice. He just got out around 1:30 today...party poopers. what causes jaundice anyway?

I know the bile being blocked...usually by a gall stone or such...but in a newborn???

DD had jaundice really bad last year when she was born. She ended up being in the hospital almost a week. Jaundice is caused by the liver not being able to breakdown the red blood cells fast enough. They will keep him under lights that help break down the jaundice through the skin. DD had to wear a little eye mask that protected her eyes from the light. She also had a special blanket she had to have under her to help break down the levels too. Eating is a big part to getting rid of jaundice too b/c the more they go to the bathroom, it helps exit the body.

sorry back...I didn't state all that clearly...Baby came home at 1:30 for the first time...and went back to hospital at 8. he was only home for 6 1/2 hours.

That sounds just like what happened to us. We were home less than 24 hours and had to go back. The good news is DD is now 1 and a healthy little bugger

Yeah his sister is 21 months and she had jaundice. went to the hospital overnight i believe, and is very much so fine now. In fact, she was a 23 on the scale of jaundice.

She left this morning to go to Pittsburgh. And she only got back home from Ohio on Friday.

You'll have to forgive me...but it's Celery's place to tell what and who she wants to tell.

Celery is not the one missing though...she's just in Pittsburgh for a biller's meeting for the Northeast. AND I'm not the only one who misses her tonight. Her puppy is running around waiting for her to come it.
