"Open" Day FP+ Suggestions

The moment is finally here - tomorrow I will be able to make our FP+'s for April! The last time we went was right before the magic bands and FP+ so this will be my first time using the system (just a little anxious that I'll pick the right ones!) I'm overall excited about FP+ but we like to leave one day for a park that we want to spend more time in - obviously I don't know what that will be until we get there! So what kinds of FP+'s should I make for that day (just to have something in case) based on all of your expert experience? We are rope droppers and park hoppers, no kids.

Here's our itinerary if it helps (day 5 is the one in question):
Day 1 - Arrive and go to Epcot (FP+)
Day 2 - Studios in the morning (FP+), MK in the evening
Day 3 - MK in the morning (FP+), open evening (maybe Studios after Yachtsman Steakhouse reservations)
Day 4 - AK in the morning (FP+), open evening
Day 5 - Open morning, Epcot evening
Day 6 - Typhoon Lagoon, MK (FP+), Hoop Dee Doo

We only do AK one day and our priorities at Epcot are mainly eating and drinking around the world which is why I don't feel we need FP+ for the evening. So it comes down to - which is better to have FP+s in advance - MK or Studios? Which one would be harder/easier to get spur of the moment? We like the big thrill attractions at each park. Or based on our itinerary, which one do you think we'd likely need more time at based on crowds etc?

Any advice would be helpful! Sorry this is so long, I think I also need to work out the logic myself

The rides which have hard to get fastpasses are Seven Dwarfs Mine Ride, Toy Story Mania, Test Track and Soarin'. I would make sure that I snagged a fp for any of those rides first thing on your 60 day fp day. Once you settle in on the hard to get rides, the rest will be rather flexible, although I don't know how difficult it is the get the thrill rides like Space Mountain or Rock N' Roll roller coaster. One thing to consider is that the popular rides at Epcot and DHS are tiered, so that if you wanted to ride Test Track and Soarin', for example, you would have to get fastpasses for two separate days, or wait in standby lines. The same would be true of Toy Story Mania and Rock N' Roll roller coaster.

Just answering the one question as to whether it's better to have advance FP+ at MK or DHS (and this is just my completely unscientific and nowhere near sufficiently experienced opinion) - I'm betting it's easier to get good FP+ day-of at MK because there are SO many options, and everyone wants something different. If you love the thrill rides and there's a chance you MIGHT go to DHS on Day 5, I'd go ahead and get RnRC and TOT (plus your third for maybe Star Tours?) in advance. That's just my thought.

Looks like we'll be there on some overlapping days!

Agree with above--MK is definitely easier.

Just wanted to say on one of our open days, we decided to go to MK and booked FPs the morning of. Almost everything was available except, of course, SDMT and Anna/Elsa.
