Open Cup Containers of Beer at Hollywood Studios.

Really? I've never heard that.

If so, I don't think I'd like Walt very much, even though his theme parks are awesome. I just don't care for judgmental people.

You don't have to like him, he's dead.

Sorry that just made me laugh.

In Fantasyland where they are doing the expansion, there is a large sign for the new restaurant. On that sign there is a women with a Martini the size of my head. Not sure if that means there will be liquor served there or not.

I do not think Walt was against drinking, he did after all build Club 33 in Disneyland which serves liquor.

Anywho, there is nothing I enjoy more than having a beer at Fantasmic after a long happy day at DHS with my husband and kids.

I am not a drunk and I do not act like one but yeah, an adult beverage while I watch Mickey fight off evil is nice.

Of course I also have a flask and I spike my refill mug at the pool while at Disney so what do I know.

Seriously, people are looking into other guests' glasses when they are on vacation in Disney World ?
For some reason that scares me.

Wouldn't mind a little tequila shot before getting on a boat in Small World.:woohoo:

You're not thinking big enough here. Why not make it so the little dolls serve a different drink in each country? I'm thinking Irish cream, Champagne, sangria, Bass ale and schnapps -- and that's just the first room. ;)

Exactly. Drink globally!

It is very unlikely that MK will ever serve alcohol. Supposedly, Walt didn't think too highly of alcohol or those who enjoy it and, at his request, vowed to never allow alcohol in the MK. :scared1: But I have heard rumors of alcohol being served at private parties, where MK is closed to the general public. Not sure if that is true or not.

Close, but not exactly.

When Disneyland Park first opened in 1955, Walt Disney wanted to maintain a family-friendly atmosphere within the Theme Parks. Not selling alcohol set Disneyland Park apart from the other Amusement Parks of the era.

In deferrence to that tradition, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts does not permit the sale of alcohol during regular trading hours at any Magic Kingdom-style theme park worldwide. Exceptions to the policy exist for Parc Disneyland at Disneyland Paris in France in deferrence to European cultural sensiblities, as well as at Club 33 at the Disneyland Resort, which is officially regarded as a seperate entity from Disneyland Park. In addition, based upon circomstances, alcohol may be served in Magic Kingdom-style theme parks during private events outside of regular trading hours.

:rotfl:

Not sure if they have the Korean dolls in WDW, but they do at DLR...when you get to them and they serve you soju, wowie watch out! That stuff packs a punch. And then there's sake...

Yep, my sister and I have had a beer or two at DHS (you can pick them up at most if not all of the counter services). I might have to try the tune-in lounge before our 50's Prime Time reservation, those drinks look yummy!

It is not new. Alcoholic beverages are readily available in all parks except Magic Kingdom (and always have been), and yes, guests may walk around with the drinks as long as they are not in glass containers.

Guests may not bring alcoholic beverages into the parks, nor can they carry open alcoholic beverages out of the parks.

I don't think this is the case. Walt liked a cocktail. Alcohol was definitely available at Club 33 at Disneyland, where he'd take his business associates. He didn't think alcohol belonged in a family setting. One can debate endlessly the idea of whether or not all Disney parks are a family setting, but Walt had direct influence only over Disneyland and MK. I believe it's true that they tried making Disneyland Paris a dry park, but that didn't fly in Europe. And alcohol sales = big bucks. Don't want to even think how much I've spent on it at the festival.

Yes, it is true, I have been to private parties (some sponsored by Disney itself) where beer and wine were served at MK.

Alcohol at the Studios is not new, I usually go to Tune In Lounge at least once a trip, and have been able to get cocktails to go.

acourtwdw: I seriously doubt they will serve accolhol at the new restaurant...

Would be nice IF a restaurant in MK would serve drinks--might make it worth going to. We avoid all the MK restaurants for that very reason.

There's also the Backlot Canteen. It's over by the HISTK playground. Get your drink on while the kids go play. ;)

Just back from a 3-day stay and noticed for the first time people walking around Hollywood Studios park with plastic cups of beer. When did this happen? I know you can drink around the World's in World Showcase but I'm hoping that Disney isn't going alcohol-able in all their parks. <crossing my fingers>

What's wrong with people walking around with beer? It's a legal beverage. Believe it or not, not everyone that drinks alcohol becomes a raging, sloppy drunk.

Like others have said this is nothing new.

I remember getting a drink from the Catwalk Bar while waiting for the parade at MGM back in 1995. :confused3

:lmao: Good to know and that might be the only reason the kids get to play in there.
