Oops....Attraction Outtakes/Oddities

I believe that the mom thought the dad had her and the dad thought the mom had her.

All was well, and the CM got the boat moving, but he wasn't really sure what to do then. Said this was the first time that had ever happened to him. He asked the eight of us on board if we wanted to hear The Speil but no one was really into it, so he just nixed it, made a bit of small talk, and then we had a quiet ride back. We all applauded when we rounded the final turn to see little Ariel standing on the dock with the castmember. :yay:

Nothing would have been quiet about the ride if my DH had left my DD3 on the dock. Because you know it is never the mom's fault!!

There was the story and accompanying youtube video someone posted a few months ago about the kids in the boat with them on IASW chunking coins at the dolls during the ride. I mean not tossing them like into a fountain, but throwing them hard enough to knock over a sign. And the parents just kept giving the kids more coins!

are you serious?

Reading the Jungle Cruise thread, I was reminded of JC experience I had last February.

My mom and I were taking an evening cruise. After leaving the dock and rounding the first bend in the river, one of the passengers realized that her small child wasn't on board. She, of course, was rather frantic and alerted the CM who immediately stopped the boat and radio'ed the dock to look for a 3 year old girl dressed as Ariel. They responded back that she was there and would be looked after until we returned.

All was well, and the CM got the boat moving, but he wasn't really sure what to do then. Said this was the first time that had ever happened to him. Anyone else have odd attraction or show experiences?

How could she not know that her child was not on a boat with only 7 other guests on it?

Took the words right out of my mouth Robo. How can you forget you have a 3 year old and she's not with you. How?

Do you people have children???? Because I've never seen a more callous response...

I've had children and I want to know HOW anyone would not be aware that the kid wasn't with them. Callous is not being vigilant and responsible.

On Star Tours once, we were supposed to go to Endor but we ended up flying off and missing Endor and instead we were in a battle. It was pretty freaky! But we made it back OK. :goodvibes

:rotfl2: This is the best post in this whole thread! :thumbsup2

On JC a college girl was texting her boyfriend when the CM took her phone, he was in his mid twenties, and said it was rude that she would text while he was on stage, he then began to pretend to text the boyfriend that she was in WDW and the CM she was with was "yummy" and then gave her the phone back. During the same trip in the cave seen he began to do the theme from the Tower of Terror and began to sing "It's a small world after all" over and over. :scared1: It was hilarious the best JC trip for sure.

:rotfl: oo funny! I would have loved to see that!

We were riding Dinosaur and we had just got to the very end where the guy was screaming we aren't gonna make it...and then the ride shut down. We were sitting in the total dark. I guess we didn't make it after all. The car full of people then had a nice debate about if we were in purgatory, the space between times, or where else.

This spring we were in MK and on Splash Mountain, our favorite ride. We were part way through and the ride stopped. It was cool at first to see the characters in the ride up close while stopped. But but when the music and laughing continues to loop over and over, it becomes painful.

The first time they made an announcement, they said it would be a few minutes so stay seated. The second time they said that it be a little longer because they needed to reset the entire system but remain seated. All this time the lights are still off and the sound is still playing.

The third time, they stopped the music, turned on the lights, and told us that they were going to need to escort everyone off the ride. They told us to remain seated because they would come section by section and had about 80 people they needed to unload.

In the end, we received a fast pass good for any ride in the park. And were able to see the insides paths of splash mountain and the behind the scenes area. And now I finally have a story to post so it all ended well.

I like that people were into the ride enough to debate whether or not they were stuck in purgatory :rotfl2:

One time in Its a Small World, our boat stopped at the end of the "goodbye" section, and we could see the front of the ride. The ride was stopped for a good ten minutes and the other boats kept running into us. I was able to see far enough to see a CM with a giant pole on the bridge fishing out a purse that fell in the water. I will never understand why they didn't just get someone on the boat or on the side of the ride to get it out, instead of spending so much time fishing it out from the bridge..

One of my friends said that when they were on the Blue Line at MK, they went through Space Mountain and all the lights were turned on since the ride had broken down.

My cart was stopped for about three minutes at the top of the first big climb on Expedition Everest, which may have been the most terrifying experience I've ever had at Disney! But it was a very nice view of Hollywood Studios and Epcot! I've also been stuck on Splash Mountain about three times..but its amazing because I've been to DW so many times, that I've had so few breakdowns on rides, unlike say Cedar Point or Universal, which their rides break alllllll the time!

Yes, but that was forgivable. After all, it was his first flight and he was still getting used to his programing.:rotfl:

Last May a friend and I were riding, for the first time, Snow White's Scary Adventures and we had just gotten to the part where Snow White is fleeing through the forest and the ride stopped. No big deal, we just watched the glowing alligator eyes with their mouths chomping for a little bit while we waited for the ride to continue. Then, we heard a CM over the loudspeaker tell us to stay seated and the lights turned on!!! We could now see everything, everywhere. The huge warehouse-like look, the torn black curtains separating each scene, the cardboard looking trees and the alligators, which were just alligator heads attached to long flat metal pieces that moved forward and back, making the mouth move. We were horrified. :scared1: The family in back of us leaned forward and said, "This is what's supposed to happen, right?" Even though it was our first time too, I knew that this could not be something that they would want you to see!

After awhile, the lights turned off and the cars started moving and we finished the ride. My friend and I were a bit traumatized. I thought it was like accidentally catching your neighbor naked through a window. You're uncomfortable and you don't want to look the neighbor in the eye later.

It may all sound a little dramatic but we were caught in the story on the ride and then all of a sudden yanked out. It was very startling. I guess I prefer to see the illusion. I don't think we'll ride it again.

We had a similar experience at Disneyland last year on Snow White except that the ride stopped, the lights turned on, and we had to walk out of the ride. :scared1: We then proceeded to go on buzz lightyear and that broke as well. We stayed seated for about 10 minutes and then we moved again. Unfortunately they turned off the lasers so we couldn't run up the score. :rotfl:

All of us Unofficial Guide fans know this scenario, which is described most accurately in the book as ".... then some confusion happened.... " and little Junior was gone.
Anyone who has a three year old knows they can zig right when the rest of the family zags left. It happens. I'm sure the mom's first reaction was that the kid fell into the water and drowned (yes, moms go there. right away, first thought ;))
On our last trip we were taking the small boat from the MK to the Poly. Sitting directly in front of me was a 3-4 year old boy, very squirmy, who insisted on sitting right next to the rail instead of between his parents. He never stopped squirming and fighting his mother's death grip. A few times her attention wandered slightly and I was certain he was going to slip right down and into the water. I was a WRECK the whole ride. I don't know why the captain didn't insist they move him to the center of the boat, he really should have.
When we got off, I said to my husband, "I was ready to kick off my sneakers and dive in after that kid." He said, "Yeah, me too!"
So yes, I can see why everyone was worried about the 3 year old waiting back on the Jungle Cruise loading dock.

That would have been scary :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I sat in the Ice Cave with the shadow of the Yeti for an hour. It was cold! Eventually, we walked down 16 flights of steps and through the "warehouse" that is inside Expedition Everest. It was pretty cool! But we did see buckets to catch water that leaked throught the ceiling, electrical stuff being worked on, forklifts, etc.

I was on TT with about 20 members of the pom squad I coach (and some of their Moms) a few years ago and the ride broke down for about 10 minutes. No biggie, but my car was stuck in the COLD area! Another car of our girls was stuck in the hot area. We debated after we finally got off who had it worse - cold or hot! Actually, tho, the girls in the hot car said they turned the red lights off after a few minutes. The cold stayed on the whole time, though. Not fun. They let us ride again right after, but most of the girls wouldn't go. I did!

Brilliant.

Yes, but that was forgivable. After all, it was his first flight and he was still getting used to his programing.:rotfl:

I blame the tech for not removing that tag before starting him up!

I just realized that we'll probably lose Captain REX when they redo the ride! NOOOOOOOOOO! :(

Do you people have children???? Because I've never seen a more callous response...

I don't have kids, and I'm certain that's why I don't think it's that big of a deal. My opinion will probably change if I ever do.

I just think that if you know the kid is safe, and you're going to be on the ride for the same amount of time with or without the spiel, you may as well keep the spiel. If anything it would probably help keep everybody's mind off the situation. You could sit in silence and make small talk and dwell on the situation, or you could just accept it and carry on. I don't think anybody did anything wrong, I was just saying that if I were in that situation I would keep the spiel.

My DH and son, 3, got stuck on POTC during the cannon scene for a few minutes. My son thinks a pirate swam in the water and was holding on to their boat!

Oh this is brilliant! Quick thinking keeps the magic alive for the kids!

I had a strange ride on Star Tours last year. My seat belt didn't work, and the CM shut us in there and left before I could let her know! So I rode the whole ride with no belt.... at least it wasn't Tower of Terror! :scared1:

So the mom freaked out so much that nobody else on the boat wanted to hear the spiel? What the heck? There's nothing anybody can do so why sit and fret for the rest of the ride? Why not just enjoy it? Nixing the spiel isn't going to get you back any sooner. Very strange...

I agree with many others. As a fellow mother, I'd be upset right along with her. It's not a good feeling when a child goes missing and quite honestly, I think if it was a very small group then it'd be almost rude to pretend all was right and continue the ride.

Luckily we've never managed any oddities or strange occurances on a ride... Although I created one when I was eight or nine. I was absolutely terrified when we entered the shrinking/growing/changing room inside HM. So much so that they had to stop the narration, open the doors and lead me out through one of the secret CM entrances. My parents were mortified. I was 15 and rode with my mother several years later. She shamed me the whole way through. Today it's my very favorite ride. :)
