Anyone up for a mini-meet somewhere around OKC or Norman?

I'm in Norman, too. We had an Oklahoma meet in February 2002 in Stillwater and also a Norman mini-meet. I think I still have a list of DIS-Okies somewhere on my computer. There was some talk at the time of planning something in Bricktown, but it never came to pass. Want me to look for my list and we'll see if we can pull something together?

Yep. Found my list of about 30 not including my family. I'm sure it isn't everybody, but a pretty good list. What time frame are you thinking of? With the holidays coming up, should we plan for sometime early next year or are you hoping for something sooner (no pun intended ). If we do something quick we won't have as big a turnout since some people will have to travel. At the big meet we had maybe 14 or 16 people. The mini meet was only 3 of us.

Me! Me! Me! I'm an Oklahoma native transplanted to Arkansas, but all my family is still in Oklahoma and we visit all the time. I grew up in Chandler, but my sister lives in the city now and I have tons of cousins, aunts, uncles, etc. in Edmond. My mom's in Tulsa. I would definately be interested! I think Bricktown would be great. I LOVE Abuelos!!

The best Saturdays for a meet/celebrating #8 look to be:
January 17
January 24
January 31
Febuary 7

That way we avoid Valentine's day, and everyone ought to be back in town by Jan 17th, right? I know OU starts on the 12th, not sure about OSU or UCO.

Any objections to Bricktown? I figure it's pretty central, and on a Saturday afternoon there probably will be plenty of parking. There are also enough restaurants that I'm sure we can agree on something, but I say we narrow down a date and time, first.

Since Abuelo's has been mentioned, how about meeting there? We could have a late lunch or graze on chips & salsa while we visit. Would 1:00 work? Let's try to stay away from the 17th, that's the Sat. preceding MLK day & is a long weekend for some people. We may be out of town - wish it could be WDW, but probably just Dallas. The 24th would be great.

I'll have DH check his schedule. It looks okay with my calendar. Once we are sure that is the date we are looking at, I'll send PM's to the list I have.

We'll need to get a rough count in advance and have someone show up early to get us a spot. Do you think we need to call Abuelos? If I can come, I'll bring a digital camera so we can post photos.

Yes, we'll need to call Abuelo's once it gets closer and we have a pretty firm count. They're used to large groups, though, and one of my friends is a manager up there. I'll take care of that stuff once we have more information and it gets closer.
