Did the OBB dessert party Saturday night. I knew what to expect, and honestly had pretty low expectations, but we had a great time. A few tips/notes…
-there were lots of tables set up for this all along the front of WCT from Sonoma Terrace to the DVC kiosk by Blue Sky. More tables than the WoC dessert party. And it seemed like most, if not all, were used. I was surprised. This has got to be a moneymaker for Disney.
-we sat in front of Sonoma Terrace and there were 3 rows of tables (some other sections only had 2 rows of tables). The front row was low tops, rows 2 & 3 were high tops with directors chairs like for the WoC dessert party.
-checked in just past 7pm for the first parade. There was a short line but we were seated as soon as we reached the front and our dessert plates came out pretty soon after being seated. Server was friendly.
-the dessert plate looks pretty sad in most photos… kinda skimpy and maybe cheap with those gummies thrown in there (especially compared to the WoC dessert plate which looks lovely in photos and in person). BUT the desserts were good. The mousse and cake pop were big hits. None of us cared for the Orange Crispy thing, which was just kinda hard and didn’t seem to taste like much.
-good grief are these treats sweet. I love sugary baked goods. I’d never describe a dessert as too sweet or too rich
. These desserts all seemed insanely sweet. It would have been nice to have some fruit, cheese, crackers/bread, or something to offer a break from sweet. So be warned and ready for a sugar overload!
-had a great view of the parade. We were in the front row of tables right on the path. The area in front of the tables was kept clear of guests, so no fear of anyone blocking the view from the tables.
-a lot of parade performers came right up to our table and the surrounding tables. Super fun.
Was it worth $80+? We enjoyed it. Parade view was great. Desserts were good. We were happy to have a dedicated seat and take a rest after going pretty hard since 3pm on a hot day. No regrets. Would consider it again next year. Having said that, the dessert party doesn’t seem necessary in order to get a good view of the parade, and there are plenty of sweet treats to get elsewhere in the park. So it’s more of a minor upgrade than a game changer.
