I'm going to OBB in October with my wife and two boys (3 and 5). We want to do the following:
  • Frightfully Fun Parade
  • Mickey's Trick & Treat
  • A few treat trails
  • Several rides (All of Carsland, TSMM, Incredicoaster, GotG, Monsters Inc., Little Mermaid)
  • Villains Grove when the kids are sleeping in the strollers (I think they'll get too spooked by it)
  1. Is this doable?
  2. What would be the best strategy for accomplishing this - i.e. what order would you recommend?
  3. What restaurants are open during the party? I'm trying to figure out how we'll manage dinner.
Thanks!

Enter early (3pm) and try to knock out some of the rides that you don’t mind riding during daylight hours.

You’ll need to plan around the parade and the Trick & Treat since those are only at certain times. When we visited, we did the first parade and the last Trick & Treat of the night. It was pretty late for a kids show and there were not many people there, so it was easy to walk in right before showtime.

Treat Trail lines move pretty fast, but if you don’t care about visiting a specific trail, just skip any with a long line and wait until you come across one with a short line.

Villains Grove might not be as spooky as you imagine. It’s dark and misty and very colorful. And while there are some big music and sounds, there aren’t any villains on the trail (the villains are actually on the treat trails). So if you don’t know it’s supposed to be “spooky” the kids might just see it as a neat colorful place.

Also, the Villains Grove line can get really really long, but when we visited it moved fast so the wait wasn’t bad despite the apparent length of the line.

It is doable. RSR might be the biggest challenge. We did pretty much every ride except for RSR and WS. But WS was down for almost the entire night. Then 45 minutes during the last hour and a half so we didn't want to give up that much party time. We also didn't do Grizzly River Run but could have, we just didn't want to get wet. All the lines other than RSR were pretty short during the party. We rode GotG and Incredicoaster multiple times. You might want to consider waiting in line for RSR right at mix-in. If it's a must do and you don't want to give up party time. We did Mickey's Philarmagic and Turtle Talk with Crush because the lines were so long at mix in. Then we waited 30 minutes for Little Mermaid since I couldn't believe the line was really that long. It was. Lol. The first ride we did after the party started was GotG.

We did all of the Treat Trails. Oogie Boogie is the only one inside so that one is good any time. The lines get shorter as it gets later and they look much better at night. But in October it will be getting darker earlier so this might not be an issue. Cruela had the longest line all night, but it moves pretty fast, and you get candy throughout.

We didn't do the Mickey's Trick & Treat so I am not sure about that. I don't remember seeing a line for it when we were in the area.

We watched the parade at 10:00 PM right by Little Mermaid. It is a long route and not difficult to get a spot. We got a spot like 10 minutes before and didn't waste time camping out. We went straight to Villain's Grove after and even though the time was listed at 50 minutes the line was half the length it had been earlier and we walked in after 5 minutes. I think saving it for later is the best strategy.

All of the restaurants and food options are open. We were not planning to eat during the party but ended up getting some food from Flo's right after watching the Carsland lights come on with the special Halloween theme. They did have a limited OBB menu.
