Does any one know of any OnStar discounts? I got a new vehicle earlier this year. My six months free with OnStar is up in about 10 days. I would like to renew the service with e-nav but can't seem to bring myself to pay $300 a year for it. Anyway to get it cheaper or to get a discount?

The only way I know of to save some money on OnStar is to pay for a full year or two in advance. You only save a few dollars doing it this way over paying for it monthly.

I liked having OnStar, but couldn't justify the expense. I have a GPS, AAA and a cell phone, so I honestly couldn't justify it. It was great when I locked my keys in the car and they could open the doors, but that happened twice in 3 years.

Everytime I have tried to cancel service, I have been offered a discounted rate. Might be something to try.

I've done this a few times already. I just tell them that I cannot afford it, and they keep reducing the rate. I believe I last got 15 months for half the yearly rate - on both my vehicles!pirate:

Were you able to get a discount on your Onstar renewal?

i called OnStar to see how much it would cost for a year of OnStar and an upgrade (the OnStar in my car is analog instead of digital, due to the car's age) for my new (to me) 2004 buick rainier. the OnStar person said they don't do upgrades, but that i could get the new OnStar FMV package at Best Buy, if my vehicle is compatible. he asked for the year, make and model of my car so he could check compatibility, then comes back and tells me my car ISN'T OnStar compatible!! IT'S GOT ONSTAR IN IT! how's that for some craziness?!?

Onstar is intergrated into your current vehicle but due to the age (the fact your vehicle have an analouge cell in it it the OnStar service is no longer compatible.

As for why your vehcile is not compatible with OnStar FMV its probably because it falls in one of the following scenarios listed here.

hmm...that's possible. i've got a digital readout compass on my rearview mirror, a hands-free microphone and a temperature indicator that displays the external vehicle temperature on the heat/ac display. it would've been nice if the guy i talked to had explained ANY of that stuff, lol. thanks!

Ironically, they just called today to remind me that my subscription expired last week. They offered me 12.95 a month or I think 149 for the year. I told them I need to speak to my dh about it and they said they would call me back this weekend. Maybe you are better off to let it expire and let them call you.

We just signed up for 12 months free from State Farm our auto insurance carrier. It's called state farm rewards. You might call & inquire about that. No obligation or credit card required. :)
