onsite vs offsite

DH won't go if we stay offsite. I've never stayed offsite, so I can't speak from experience myself. We don't like to drive at WDW, and I think the transportation makes it worth it for us.

dh and i always stay onsite. we love it! we love the theming of all the resorts, as well as the ease of everything with regard to transportation. with the magical express and transportation within the world, there is no need for us to rent a car, so we would never consider staying offsite. i agree with a PP - time is money at WDW and the most efficient way to see everything you want to see and do everything you want to do is by staying onsite. :cheer2:

didn't you ask on the orlando hotels/attraction.

anyway as say there - do both.

offsite with my RCI timeshares and skyauction certificates.

onsite with my II timeshares and DVC points.

both are great for different reasons.

if you are only doing WDW - then staying onsite makes sense.

if you are doing outlet shopping, SW, US/IOA, or one of the other hundred of things to do in Orlando - then offsite makes sense.

just depends upon what you are going to do.

EMH makes it worth it for me. Disney use to only offer this in the morning - then for almost year they did not offer it at all. then in May a few years ago they offer in it in the morning and evening (before they had charged for the evening) FREE. It is really nice - especially on those hot, humdity and crowded days in the summer, fall.

when they were charging for it - they only included the big rides. now that it is free most of the rides in the park are open.

so it is pretty wonderful!!!

especially if you have little ones who must ride Dumbo - try to go to early EMH first - if that fails or if you can't get up early enough - then go to EMH at night.

the wait is still there - but it is generally 30 minutes not the 2 hours it can be during the day.

early morning EMH it is probably 15 minutes or less wait.

Dumbo still seems to be the favorite ride of the under 7 years set. (okay might be under 6 set)

orlando has some very nice timeshares and they can be more reasonable than the upscale hotels.

Ritz-Carlton vs Hilton Grand Vacation Club
J W Marriott vs Marriott Vacation Club

you can get both thru RCI. Marriott is surpose to be II. but Cypress Harbour, Sabal & Royal Palms are listed in both.

so offsite can be both very nice and affordability.

I can understand the financial appeal of offsite but we are spolied by all of our previous trips being onsite. I don't see us ever staying offsite though many of our friends do and they have great times.

DW and I generally stay onsite...even though I have tons of family in Orlando...all with nice houses, pools and lots of room!

We just love the "magic" of WDW resorts...last year we stayed at CBR and this year we're doing CSR. If we were really strapped, we'd stay with family, but otherwise we'll spend the $$ to stay in WDW.

If we had a large group going, however, I think we'd definitely look into renting a vacation house just to be together more.

...that's my .02
