Onsite Hotel v. Ticket "Child" definition???

I know that Universal tickets (like Disney) define "child" as ages 3-9, so for our upcoming trip I will have to purchase an adult ticket for my daughter who will be 16.

I am not booking a package so that I can cancel if need be due to my husband's work schedule. I plan to buy tickets closer to our arrival date of early June.

But I have booked a night at the RPR so we can gain early entry and FOTL privileges. I understand that all members of our party have to show the hotel key to get both EE and FOTL....and that adult keys are marked A and child keys are marked C.

I booked us having 3 adults and 1 kid at RPR because most hotels define kid as under 18. I've played around many websites to book different hotels, when I plugged in kid, it asks for ages and you chose from a drop down box up to 17.

So how does that work when you have a teenager who will have an adult ticket? Can she get in with a child key or do I need to pay an extra $25/night for her as well as my 20-old-son.

Right now my rate for 3 adults is $294/night. When I enter 4 adults, it goes up to $319/night.

I'm starting to think WWoHP is just not worth at this time!

A teenager with an adult ticket and a child room key is fine and done all the time. The room key will have the child's age on it.

They do not check children's ages at the front desk to make sure your child is under 18. They also don't check room keys at the park to make sure your child is the age they say on the card.

It is difficult these days to tell exactly how old a teenager is....just saying.

I guess I should be thankful for my short and skinny kids!!!
