Onsite dining prices are getting ridiculous...

If you are doing other character meals I can understand not doing this one, she will have loads of fun at the ones you have picked.:)

Definitely, as long as you don't tell her she could have met June then she will have a wonderful time adn be none the wiser.

Had it have been your only character meal I'd say go for it, but with all the others lined up don't feel bad for dropping it.

Are they in the PHDisney Live show? That's free adn they will probably talk and be a lot mroe entertaining than at a meal. :)

We'll see how strong my budgeting resolve will be this time next year ;)

Yes, you guys are probably right about the characters being unique. So does that mean you can't find Leo and June in the parks at all? Can anyone who has been recently recall seeing them anywhere?

They were at DHS outside the Playhouse place last April. In fact we got to meet quite an assortment as they switched characters as we got to the front of the line and the line was fairly short so we queued up again and got the next batch. :thumbsup2

DD was 7 - I wouldn't have known who they were without a bit of help! :rotfl2: But she wanted the autographs so we lined up - really cute photos too! ;)

My DD has never watched Playhouse disney so I don't have a clue about the characters.

They were out and about when we were there in 2008 around the Playhouse Disney Show. They were with Jo Jo at the time.

On another note, have read many a reveiw of how bad the buffet at Hollywood and Vine is so maybe it is a blessing it is so expensive. ;)

Just sticking up for H&V... I've eaten there twice and the food was great both times. I'm going again in August! Bear in mind that this is coming from a fussy vegetarian with very high standards.

Don't knock it until you try it. :)

Can't comment on the breakfast but we did the dinner buffet at H&V and thought it was awful. The food quality was exceptionally low and the ambience of the restaurant is not nice - noisy, busy and felt like a cafeteria to me. We won't be back, so I agree the $$$ is a blessing in disguise! :goodvibes :thumbsup2

That's your opinion. :)

I was just putting a good review out there so people are aware that others have had positive experiences there.

Sorry but it has never interested me, and as we will probably stay offsite again and there is a wealth of other offsite, more affordable places, with great reviews to eat we only choose a few onsite places to eat.

Last time we ate at Chef Mickey - Dinner, Coral Reef - Dinner Crystal Palace Breakfast and California Grill - Adults only dinner.

If we do the same amount approximately of onsites dinners, breakfasts it is going to take me a very long time to get to it that is if we decide to do only new places each time we go.

I am sure there are plenty of people who love it, I was just passing on what I had read.

I personally try not to listen to reviews too much, as every single place in WDW will have at least one bad review. I was just trying to express that people should try places for themselves before judging them. :)

i agree lauren,we have had some foul meals in places people rave about (LTT and coral Reef, H and V and mama melrosas) poor slow service, bad food - and yes i do have high standards, so other people may accept these things, i am a catering/hospitality graduate so my industry and my rules;), dh is a head chef, so we know what to expect.
we have had much better service and food off site, inc golden corral and IHOP etc. not necc expensive places, but you do, in the end, get what you pay for, and im expecting good food and service if im paying disney prices.

i jumped for the CRT bfast, which was very highly rated and whilst was nice, imho not worth the money...again, you pay for the experience, not just the food, and i think the OPs answer would be, how much are you willing to pay to see DDs face? bfast is only an extra, you are, after all, paying for the experience, not bfast....

I am not sure of all the playhouse characters but there were definitely some in the studios when we went in january. There was a specific playhouse meet and greet which rotated the characters every hour or so.

I would personally give it a miss ! for two reasons

1, We went to CRT this year with our DD (7) and although I liked the food I felt like we were on a production line and it was pricey:eek:
Our DD got much more out of the character meet and greets in the park. But to be fair we were there out of season so they may have been less busy than normal.

2.Our DD during earlier visits to DLP hardly ate at character meals as she was so excited to meet her faves.:lovestruk

I think you have a fair selection of other meals including some character ones that Matilda will love.

Ill probably be shot down in flames for this but here goes . . .

We went to CRT breakfast last year and it was the most ridiculous priced breakfast for 6 of us but I never once thought about the cost as I feel the memeories we created from this meal were worth a million times what we paid. My daughter was just 2 1/2 nad to se eher face full of wonderment and believing she lit the ceiling up with her wishes was totally the best experience ever.

WDW is not about buying a holiday or food what you re buying is memories and in my opinion theres no price on that x x x

I couldn't agree more :goodvibes although even though we're 5 adults we don't find it expensive as these are the prices we have to pay to eat out at home.

Eloise, I'm with the others in that if it had been your only character meal then I'd say go for it but as you've got others planned then I'd say give it a miss and hopefully you'll catch June in the parks.

Hi Eloise!
Where you guys are going for longer trip, would it be worth if for you or Phil -but not both of you- to get an AP? If one of you had one you could get the TIW card for additional savings, as well as the regular AP savings at restaurants, shopping, PARKING, etc?
Also, I don't think Jo Jo's circus is even on in the States anymore- Joel had no idea who they were but man was he CHUFFED to see Leo! We did H&V for lunch and I was pleasantly surprised with how good everything was compared to the last time we went (which was for a non-character dinner)!

I would tend to agree that I noticed a big difference in meal prices in Feb 2010 compared to when we last stayed at WDW in April 2008 - partly because unfortunately my two children are now counted as adults at buffets.

We did the Crystal Palace lunch for my birthday and the cost was $27 per person plus tip. We did have a TIW car but although the buffet food was nice IMO it was nowhere near as wide a selection as what we had when we cruised last year. So our meal was well over $100 for 2 adults, a 13 year old (who admittedly does eat a lot) and a 10 year old (who eats very little). It didn't feel like good value for money to me. I'm not knocking the experience - which was wonderful - but I felt it cost more than I would pay again.

That said we had what I consider great value for money at a number of other places: Raglan Road, WPE, Chefs, Yachtsmans. Some were a lot more expensive than others but for me, they represented a fantastic meal for the price we paid.
