onsite at the beginning or the end of trip?

Ok for those of you that have done an onsite & offsite trip do you recommend staying on site at the end of the trip or at the beginning. First I was thinking that we'd stay offsite for the first 6 nights then the last 3 on but now I'm not sure. We have never stayed onsite before.

We're planning on staying on site for the first three nights, in order to take advantage of Magical Express, and to kick off the vacation. We've never stayed on site before either. We're going to do the Dining plan for those three days, and then walk all that food off during the remaining 7 days that we're staying off site! We plan to rent a car from Disney (I think the swan has Alamo?) and then stay in Windsor Hills or somewhere similar.

personally, i'd stay on-site at the end of the trip because i'd find myself spending the rest of my vacation comparing my off-site digs to the on-site!

also, i love staying on-property. there's just something about it that makes my WDW vacation more magical, so i'd want to end my trip with that.

Where are you staying offsite? That would be the deciding factor for me. I would stay in the nicer place last.

most likely staying at CPGV's again & the Polynesian. I should mention that we love our space, and are a little nervous that we will feel crammed in by staying in a one room hotel. There are 4 of us in my family DH, myself DS(10), DD(3). I think the kids would really enjoy the experience of staying onsite though.

For me it is totally the opposite - all in one room is not my idea of magic!!!

Id do onsite first when I wanted to do all the Disney parks.Then stay off site to relax and chill or do orlandos other attractions (as you may be nearer off site?)

Either way youll have great time - hey its WDW!!!!

I would DEFINITELY do onsite first. To go from a spacious offsite place to being crammed into one little room onsite is no way to end the vacation. Do the onsite room when you are still fresh and not worn down from days of touring the parks. Later in the trip, when you are a little more fatigued and may be suffering from togetherness overload, you'll really appreciate the extra space offsite.

A few years ago, we stayed onsite for four nights at AKL then off-site for four nights at CPGV. It thought everyone would enjoy all the extra space at CPGV after all of us being in one room at AKL. The kids didn't care that they no longer had to share a bed; they wanted to go back to AKL. Even DH said he would have preferred to stay at AKL last. Totally surprised me!

I would say it depends on how much your family likes staying on-site. If it is really important to them, I would stay on-site last. If they really don't care where they stay, I'd stay off-site last and enjoy the extra room after being cooped up in a hotel room.

If I have a split stay I always do the nicer (or the one I want to stay at more) the second part of the trip. I reveresed it once, and I was so miserable for the first 2 days of our stay. I didn't want to leave the "nicer" hotel we were at. This way you still have the one you're most excited about to look forward to as your trip is winding down.

why - I generally need to lazy for a day or two. relaxing onsite is a BIG expensive. relaxing outsite only a few dollars a day.... (instead of hundred of dollars).

of course I like my onsite in the middle - so I can relax before and after.....

I would definitely have the onsite at the end.

Where are you staying? both offsite and onsite....

This is a tough decision. If you were staying at a Disney value resort, I would say get it out of the way first and enjoy the rest of your stay in a nicer more spacious unit off site. However, the Poly is one of our favorite resorts and while I would want to head to the volcano pool asap, I guess I would wait and save it for the end. It will be worth it.
