Onpoint Covid Testing? Or Better cheap options?

Hi all

Funding myself confused and stressed out over the covid test prior to leaving. We will have 7 total in our group AND be at Disney Land for 4 days before our cruise.

I've heard about this testing service being $10. Will Disney accept this service? We also have the free tests we ordered from the Government, will they accept that? How far in advance do we schedule?

Alternatively is there a cheaper option at all for us? I'm not sure how CVS does tests since one is near our Disney Land hotel

We were able to do 2 people per appointment.

When you get the schedule link you can say it's for 2. You'll get a link when you pay with a confirmation code. You'll get a zoom link. You connect to that a few minutes before your time. The guy on the call will ask for that confirmation code for the 2 testing, he'll walk you through the test, verify visually the results and send you an email from their lab.

Onpoint was super easy.

We used our own test. we made the appointment for 30 minutes from the time. they sent a zoom link, 2 people per call. Everyone accepted the results.

great news. Going to try this in September (unless things change). Was the price $10 per person or per visit

Honestly the price seems to change daily. We ordered for $14.99 a person. then it went on sale for $9.99 per person. I just looked and it's at $17.99 I feel like as the US and other places drop testing these sites are looking to cash in on anything that is left. I imagine they won't be around much longer. The price is per test not the session.

It is stressful but try not to! The service you speak of is OnPoint and yes Disney accepts it because you just need to upload your results and as long as it's a type of test Disney requires, you'll be fine. You can use the free test from the Gov't through OnPoint, key point of the free at-home tests is your results must be proctored!

I would schedule the test appts as far in advance as you can. This would be your cheapest option unless your insurance still covers Covid testing then CVS would be another route. We've used nothing but CVS for required tests but again, insurance covered and we needed to have PCR testings. You can use antigen testing for the cruise.

I "stole" this very informative post from another page regarding the steps for OnPoint - and only because I'm a dummy and don't know how to link the post 🤔 Thank you very very VERY much @Mathmagicland

"Sharing the OnPoint Telemed Covid antigen testing process. It went very efficiently and smoothly! The tests are done through a Zoom video conference link.

You can use any FDA-authorized home self-test kit, so no need to wait for tests to arrive in the mail if you are short on time. We used the free tests that could be ordered from the government earlier this year. The current OnPoint Telemed cost is $14.99 per person and they will do a max of two people per appointment. Appointments are available in 15–minute increments any time day or night.

The process -

  • after the order is complete, you will get an email to book your appointment day and time. If this doesn’t arrive, give their customer service a call to push that email out again. The only time I’ve seen them fully booked for appointments was Sunday of Memorial Day weekend, when starting mid-morning they were fully booked until late in the evening. So try to plan ahead around holiday weekends.
  • The appointment process asks for a test location code, which is found in the confirmation email.
  • Use the patient info link in the appointment confirmation email to fill out your personal information ahead of the test time.
  • If you need to change your appointment (I had to do so due to some changes in our travel), it is easy to do with the change/cancel link in the confirmation email
  • They sent out a couple of reminder emails with the zoom link, one day before and one morning of the test.

On test day -
  • be logged into the Zoom call a few minutes early. Our proctor joined a couple of minutes before our start time.
  • Have the following info available: confirmation codes, which they use to find your appointment and patient info; unopened test kit; passport numbers which they include on the test results when the test is for travel; name of cruise line & ship, or airline if testing for a flight.
Once the session started, she asked for our confirmation numbers to find our appointment, verified our info, asked for test manufacturer, and then we started the test. She guided us through it a bit re how long to swab, to help ensure we’d get a clear result.

While we were awaiting the test results to show up on our test cards, she added our travel and passport info to her records for their test result paperwork. At about 10-11 minutes she asked to see our test cards. We each held up our test cards & she took screen captures to confirm the result. We were all finished in 15 minutes for the two of us.

The proctor said to allow 20 minutes for the results to be emailed but I got them right away, within a minute or two. The results came as both a link and a PDF. I uploaded the PDFs to our Safe Passage accounts because that was a more complete result report. She said if there were any errors on the paperwork, we could reply back to email and someone would get it corrected right away.

If you’ve never done a home self-test, I’d recommend doing one ahead of your proctored test so you are familiar with your test kit and the self-test process. It will make the proctored test go smooth"

Hoping maybe we won’t have to test at all come August
wouldn't that be awesome!

This whole thing kind of stresses me out since we'll be in Universal for four days prior to our cruise. ;);)

When ordering the OnPoint Covid Teleservice - do you order per person. for example, today is says $14.99 for teleservice visit where you bring your own test. We are a family of 4. Am I buying 2 (since 2 people can test per appointment) or am I buying 4?

Thanks.

Reports on another thread indicate you’ll need to buy 4. Also, one poster logged in for an appointment and it now said 4 can test per appointment.

I'm wondering if this means I can cancel one of my appointments. Though I had a hard enough time figuring out their scheduler to make one. I can imagine canceling being just as unintuitive.

I had to reschedule one of my appointments, and I saw the change from 2 to 4 when I did that. I just changed the number of tests from 2 to 4 for the one appointment, then cancelled the other appointment.

There is a link at the bottom of the calendar invite email to modify and cancel, so it wasn't so hard.

Thanks! I just took care of it and it was no problem.

Can anyone tell me how early we should pay the fees and pick a time to test? We sail on July 21st so looking for thoughts on how early to book OnPoint. Thanks

The scheduling was wide open when I booked, even for same day appointments. Personally, if it were me, I would watch the pricing and book if/ when it drops again. It was $9.99 per test when I booked, but I think it is double that now.

For the patient registration forms, did you complete insurance information or select direct bill? The shouldn't be running through insurance as you pay when you order the service, but it wasn't clear in the flow what is needed on patient registration. Assume you do it for each person being tested under the order number (we have 3).

You are right that it wasn't clear. I selected Direct Bill and did not enter my insurance info.

And yes, I completed the patient registration for the 4 people in the order, and chose direct bill for all of them.

I just booked with OnPoint and received my receipt of payment email, but it didn’t have a link for the meeting or confirmation of our meeting time. Does this come in a separate email?
