Okay here is my points breakdown. What would you do. If I leave my ressie the way it is…that is my first one listed here. I will have 227 to bank at the end of this month plus I get my 300 in Oct. This is our first DVC trip and WHY THIS IS FREAKING me out so much I don't know. Maybe someone can just tell me I am LOSING MY MIND AND I NEED TO JUST LEAVE MY RESSIE AND ENJOY MY FIRST TRIP HOME and stop worrying about how my points are being used. We basically have 600 points to use or bank by the end of this month prior to me making this first ressie that is. SO here it is. You can stop now and I would totally understand.



1.. Current ressie (we are currenlty in a preferred 2 bedroom but wait listed for standard) I am also on a wait list for BW my last 4 nights for P and S vs. the first 4 nights because it is cheaper points wise. We have two weekend nights.

BW for 4 nights and then SSR for 5 nights

218 for preferred BW and 155 for SSR total 373

I am waitlisted for Standard view which then makes our total 353 saving 20 points

2. If we could do SSR first we would spend 5 nights there for 228 then move to BW for 136 Preferred or 120 Standard

Total for Preferred is 364 saving 9 points from current ressie if we get it for preferred

Total for Standard 348 saving 5 points from current ressie if we get the waitlist for Standard view but saving 25 total points from Preferred on current ressie

3. IF we stay at SSR for the entire 9 nights the total is 352 beating every scenario except for Standard view getting BW for the last 4 days…but that only saves 4 pts.

AS I READ THIS BACK....I AM REALIZING HOW

YOU MUST THINK I TRULY AM.

JUST put me out of my misery. Maybe this post is grounds for DVC DIS BOARD DISMISSAL.

The heck with saving points, if I were you, I would waitlist for Boardwalk view for the whole of the BWV stay, great view, same points, no worries about banking, but leave everything else the same. Pixie dust that you get whatever it is that will make you happy!

If you have already booked the preferred view and get the standard view a few weeks before, you may be too late to bank the points you save. Then it's a wash.

Live a little and stay with the preferred unless you can get the BW view.

edk, your post is making me laugh, with you, not at you. I am such a similar type planner. I plan until there is nothing left to plan and then mess with it until I feel loopy. I joined this board to plan our first trip to WDW............................................which will be in May 2009. Thank you for making me feel better!

Just wait until you have to play around with less points (meaning not the batch to start)and try to work out the scenarios, or when you realize that you can "squeeze in" an extra trip if you make certain choices!lol Story of my DVC life I've been bit once by add-on-itis and it's been nagging since AKVs were announced.

But back to your question-I'd definitely try both resorts with the 9 days since you have the time to enjoy the best of both with that time frame. I think that the Preferred view at BWV or getting the Boardwalk view would be a nice treat for a first trip-save the standard for when you need to conserve points.

Oh, you aren't crazy. We haven't even closed on our contract yet and I had to start a spreadsheet to plan possible trips in May and September, to best use/bank/borrow points.

We had our seller bank all of the 210 pts, so we get 420 Sept 1. We want to take a trip in May but it will depend on availability both of DVC and of vacation time. Since it will be last minute (< 2 mos) we decided to go the safe route and have everything banked just in case we can't find anything suitable. I refuse to go in June/July/Aug.

As to your situation, I would book preferred BW for the whole 9 nights and waitlist for BW view. For 20 pts diff, it would be worth it to stay in the same room the entire time.
