First Delta cancelled my morning flight out of Huntsville...

Now I am on an evening flight the same day.

Here is the problem, I went to Delta.com and checked the seating availabilty chart and my seat is the ONLY ONE RESERVED:eek:

I suspect the morning flight was cancelled because of no passengers, but can they cancel both nonstops for a day?

This is also a Saturday!

I can't believe that I am the only one going to Disney on a Saturday.

What type of aircraft? what route? how far out is your flight?

Not everyone preselects a seat assignment, many many people only book 0-7 days in advance. Looking at the seat map is not an accurate indication of how many seats have actually been sold.

I just saw Huntsville - sorry, didn't note that before.

I have flown to/from Huntsville before on Delta with only a handful of people on my flight.

My flight is on 9/22 and it is a nonstop to MCO.

I am just afraid that that they are going to put me on a connecting flight to Atlanta.

The flights from Atlanta to MCO that I have checked out have VERY few seats available and I assume they will be oversold by 9/22.

Also, I paid for a nonstop.

You didn't pay for a nonstop, you just paid for a flight from Huntsville to MCO (not being rude, just realistic).

Whoever suggested calling Delta is correct.

Thanks!

If I don't get stuck in Atlanta, I'll be happy!

Actually, I'll be happy either way because I'm going to Disney!

This could be a glass half full kind of situation - if you end up being the only person on the flight, you can always tell people you got a private jet for the cost of commercial! ;)

That is a nice little flight from HSV to MCO. However, since they frequently seem to think we all want to travel in the middle of the day, killing the entire day on both travel days, we rarely use it anymore.

We have started taking the SW late night flights out of Nashville to/from MCO. We can still leave work at regular quitting time, get to the flight and get to Orlando that night. Then on the trip home, have a full day at Disney.

Thanks clkelley!

How much is a SW ticket to MCO generally?

Is it worth driving to Nashville?

Earlier, I joked that if I was on a connecting flight to Atlanta from HSV, I would be in the air about 10 minutes.:rotfl:

I've flown ATL-HSV - literally you reach cruising altitude and start the descent. I think that it's about 40 minutes total.

(I've actually flown shorter routes than that - one which is only 35 minutes but is in the air for about 15-20 minutes

Thanks for the info bavaria!

That will be a short flight if I have to take it!:dumbo:

I didn't know if anybody had flown out of HSV besides me, and now I have found 2 DIS members!

I have never paid more than $149 RT including taxes for a SW flight out of Nashville or Birmingham (Prefer Nashville, better flight times.)

With Ding! fares, I've done as well as $80 RT including taxes, so for the better schedule, ensured nonstop flight, and great prices, we go with SW for our personal travel and we easily leave work from Research Park at 5pm and get to BNA in plenty of time for the late evening flight.

Now for business, I take that HSV-ATL flight all the time (just took it Monday), and yes it's a short flight, not bad at all, it's just that once you get to Atlanta, it's a long haul through the airport there, and if there are any backups in Atlanta, they don't even let you off the ground in HSV until they can get caught back up and find a slot for you.

Unfortunately SWA out of Nashville has gotten more expensive now that SWA has a virtual monopoly there. RTs are $300+ per person except for the occasional ding during off times. :sad2: For the first time in several trips we are considering driving rather than pay almost $1000 in airfare for three people from Nashville.

I've got a trip coming up in September, BNA - MCO $137 and change RT per person. You've just got to check the rates religiously every Tuesday, and watch for Dings!

We live in Madison, so we fly in and out of Huntsville on a regular basis. We take the Nonstops to WDW 4-5/year, and we've never had even a half empty flight, forget about being the only people on the plane, lol.

We've done the SW thing out of Nashville, and personally, I don't think it's worth it. First you have the drive to and from Nashville, and then you have to fly SW - but I could be bias. I loathe flying SW, and will only fly it if we happen to catch a $25 fare.

Good luck on your trip. We'll be flying out of HSV to MCO over Labor Day weekend. :)

Yeah I saw that Ding but unfortunately that is one of the off times WDW wise. Their rates for peak times when we have to go (Christmas school break and summer school break) are almost always "rack" so to speak.
