We will have 3 adults and 2 children for our next trip. I am thinking of renting points but the points needed for a 2 bedroom would be costly. Is the 2 bedroom our only option? Has anyone ever rented 2 studios?

Thanks for your help!

We've done 2 studios over a 2 bedroom on occassion but only if it's a short trip----like 2 or 3 nights. If it's longer than this, I think you will miss the full kitchen and washer/dryer in the villa. It's something to consider. Good luck with your decision.

You could fudge.

OR

There are some Disney hotels that allow 5 per room, but then you wouldn't want to rent points.

You really could use the space that a two bedroom affords. If not you may want to forget two studios and just opt for two rooms at a moderate that are connected. Someone is going to have to sleep in the same room with the kids either way you cut it. If you are willing to go off campus there are a lot of nice places to stay at that are condos and have even 3 bedrooms and cost less than you over priced WDW rooms.

You don't say which resort you are looking at or which time of year. If you go with OKW, the point cost is less. I would say a 2 bedroom is the best option there, but you could do 2 studios also. I assume the children belong to 2 of the adults? If they are a family that could share a room, that would be the second bedroom. If not, the lone adult could sleep on the hide-a-bed in the living room of a 2 bedroom.

A 2BR or 2 studios are about your only options. I would urge you to think about your length of stay etc, as far as which to rent. If you like the option of a full kitchen and washer/dryer, then the 2BR is the way to go, especially if your stay is a longer one The washer/dryer affords you the ability to pack less since you have the ability to do laundry.

However, if privacy is an issue, then perhaps the 2 studios would be a better choice, as you can get physically "away" from your travel companions more effectively than you could in a 2BR.

I have travelled with a group of 5 adults...2 couples and 1 single...and stayed in a 2BR, with the 1 couple in each bedroom and the single on the couch. It worked fine, since we all pretty much get along and like each other. However, If I were to travel with my SIL and her 2 children, I would opt for 2 studios, as her children are not well-behaved, she is annoying and I would feel like I had no "escape" in a 2BR.

Just another perspective, but an important one to think about. I know Disney touts family, an Magical Gatherings, and shows all the videos of happy extended families romping together through the parks, but the reality of the situation is that after a while, even the closest of families can get on each other's nerves under the right conditions.

Thanks everyone for your insight. I was thinking of BWV. I like the idea of having the washer/dryer but I probably wouldn't utilize the kitchen facilities. So the extra cost for the 2 bedroom probably isn't worth it. I do like the idea of small fridge and coffee maker. So maybe 2 studios is a good option for us. Now there probably aren't any connecting studios though are there? Booking 2 rooms at a moderate is something we are also considering.
Thanks again!

No, there are no connecting studios, and you can't even be guaranteed that they'd be in the same location, even the same floor. If you really want to be connected, the 2 rooms at the moderate would give you your best chance at getting connecting rooms, at the least, they'd be next to each other if the ressie was made for 2 rooms.

I believe you can have 5 in a room at BoardWalk INN, Contemporary and definitely the Polynesian. No kitchenette, but daily maid service.

If you are considering options at WDW, but outside of DVC, then the Fort Wilderness Cabins are a good option for a party of 5.

There are bunks beds in the back bedroom for the kids along with a double bed for an adult or 2. The family room area has a wall bed or murphy bed that sleeps 2 adults also.

The only drawback at the cabins from the 2 hotel rooms is that you would have a single bathroom, but you get the kitchen too.
