ONLY in WalMart

I've seen some strange things in WalMart, and I've even gone in there braless myself (trust me: I should never do that, but I didn't have a choice that time), but the topper for me was when I was politely chatting-up the cashier when I mentioned that I loved being a SAHM, but my hubby often wished I had a paying job.

So she offered to hook me up with one via her second job.

As a phone sex operator.

I tried to play it off by saying I didn't have the voice to be one. She assured me you don't use your *real* voice - you make up characters.

Then she demonstrated *her* characters for me.

My husband thought it was hilarious; I'm still traumatized.

And you didn't take her up on the offer?

:rotfl:

Funny you should talk about Walmart. Was just in there with my DH and we went to the Seasonal Aisle - you know the aisle where they have things for the different seasons - Easter, Christmas etc. DH asked it I wanted the Cadbury Mini Creme Eggs so we went to look for some. Wrong night to do that. :headache:

While looking for what I wanted a group of women came into the aisle with two toddlers. The toddlers each had an orange and one kept dropping theirs on the floor, while the other one was digging into one end with their finger. The women with the toddlers were loud and not paying attention to the kids. Then one ran off leaving one of the kids in the middle of the main aisle telling them to "stay there, mommy is going to get you a surprise."

DH & I found what we wanted and started to leave and decided to go the opposite way since these women were still looking for whatever they wanted, blocking the way with their two carts. I told DH that is must Friday.

I think people who secretly take pictures of other people and then post them on the internet without permission for the express purpose of making fun of them, are mean. And we all know that expression about mean people: they suck.

Agreed.

Yes that is the worst thing about Walmart !

Having worked at Wal-Mart, I can safely say that I think the worst thing about it is the rude people who shop there. I couldn't give a fig what the person who came through my line was wearing as long as they were pleasant.

I agree, I find it horrible that adults, sit around and laugh at others, That is beyond sad :(. I always thought bullying ended in HS

I agree with you. I don't understand adults who bully, laugh at other people, make fun of them, etc. Actually, I pity them. Their lives must be pretty sad if they can find enjoyment out of trying to tear down others whether it be in person or on a message board. Poor things, really. :sad2:

i don't get where all the wal-mart hate comes from. our store is clean, well-stocked, and, for the most part, the employees are friendly. except for the occasional crying baby, i've never encountered any unpleasant children there. usually, i see little kids in carts, smiling and waving at everyone. i also never see the people in wacky clothes. i guess my wal-mart is boring.

I guess I am the queen of mean because I think The People of Walmart is hilarious.... Most of the time. I don't like the especiallycruel ones though. These people get up, dig through their closets and put these outfits on. If they wanted to look like other people they would do so, but they don't so they must want to be noticed for being different and they get noticed. not everybody wants to blend in, so what, more power to 'em... I'll always cheer them on

Personally I love Walmart and the sometimes wacky wonderful people who shop there. occasionally I will drag my DH there and on a weekend all he & the kids do is wait for me and people watch the parade of characters that come and go.

My personal favorites have been the 2 times I saw vehicles with silk flowers hot glue gunned to the roofs of the vans. Oh, and I saw Brett Michaels tour bus in our local one's parking lot last week.

Gotta love it:thumbsup2

Yup, saw it with my own eyes. Standing in line in the electronics, around the corner saunters a man, probably 6'2" if he was an inch, partially bald on top but had a long flowing mane of gray hair down the middle of his back, sunglasses sitting atop the illustrious mane, black leather jacket with a snug black t shirt underneath and a long flowing black skirt. With lace through out the skirt so you could catch a hint of leg if he moved just right.

ONLY in WalMart.:scared1:
And? If this is how he wants to dress what is the problem with it.

Ditto.
It's the out of control children that make me want to run away screaming. ;)
They're everywhere, not just WalMart.

Maybe it's about where you live, and not so much about where you shop.

Exactly. :confused3 Who cares?

Hey, the whole site is just about having a good laugh. Tell me, if you saw someone dressed in a crazy way at your WalMart, wouldn't you be laughing a bit on the inside? It's not bullying, it's your daily laugh. Laughing increases your lifespan! :thumbsup2

I agree-just another form of bullying. Fwiw, we have a local guy around here who is the town "nut". He frequently wears skirts, dresses and costumes in stores. I've never seen him in Wal Mart. He mostly frequents CVS and the grocery stores.

As if people who aren't laughing at and making fun of people aren't getting a "daily laugh"? :confused3

I am of the opinion that the people we are starting to see in WalMart that are dressed really crazily are doing so for the express purpose of getting their 15 minutes of fame on the "People of WalMart" website.

Does it matter to me what people are wearing? Not a bit, as long as it's not my clothes. But if you are going to go out into public looking highly unusual, you should expect to get the attention you are seeking. And I don't buy for one minute that all the people that are on the "People of WalMart" site are developmentally or mentally disabled in some way. I think most of them are doing exactly what they are doing....seeking attention.

So you calling a guy who may be just plain eccentric the town nut is the height of sensitivity:confused:

SOME people are just outlandish because it's fun to them. Have you ever seen NYC's gay parade? That makes the people of walmart look like a JC Penny catalog

:rotfl: My mother insists that I have some sort of mark on my forehead that certain people see and it says 'Please tell me your story, because I care'. I've heard some messed up stuff, but this takes the cake! :worship::worship:

I hope your nightmares go away soon!

Same here. I was in Kroger (grocery store) earlier today and a woman started telling me she was loopy because she was on painkillers and had to have a tooth implant. She then pulls back her lip to show me the hole and a rotten tooth.

Stuff like that is always happening to me.

Not all Walmarts are the same. We have a Walmart Super Center on either side of town here and if you were taken to either of them blindfolded until you got inside you would easily be able to tell which one you were in just by the people.

It's not just Walmarts, either. Spend some time just hanging out at any of the parks at WDW and you'd be surprised what you will see. It wasn't long ago I saw a younger tall guy wearing a skirt and carrying a purse in the Magic Kingdom. Epcot on Christmas Day had a lot of candidates for the "People of Walmart" site.

I don't call him the town nut. He's just generally known as that around here.

Someone please explain to me how viewing people on the peopleofwalmart website is bullying? I can see it being classified as possibly mean, distasteful, etc. but bullying? :confused3

The core defintion of bullying is repeatable acts towards a target or targets.

Because bullying is such a hot-button issue right now that people think that whenever they drop the word, everyone's going to gasp and think "Oh my God!!! I'm a bully!!! I better stop!!!!".

Bottom line, most of the people pictured in People of WalMart d not appear to have any diminished mental capacity. They appear to be people who just really don't give a crap about what they wear, how they look, how they are perceived or anything else. OR they are people looking to get onto People of WalMart for their 15 minutes of fame.

So if they don't care about themselves in any way, do you honestly think they are going to care if they are being made fun of? I doubt it. And if they dressed the way they did to get onto People of WalMart, then they are getting their wish, so it's all good.
