ONLY in WalMart

Because bullying is such a hot-button issue right now that people think that whenever they drop the word, everyone's going to gasp and think "Oh my God!!! I'm a bully!!! I better stop!!!!".

Agreed - hence why I couldn't understand folks stating it was bullying. I think the word/term Bullying is overused these days. I'm not diminishing bullying as I know it exists and is horrible but folks should not be using that term if its not bullying.

Yep. Bullying is the label du jour. Pretty soon someone will take up another cause and it will get over-hyped again. Sometimes these cause bandwagons do more harm then good.

What is so ironic is that if you poked fun of fat folks at Disney World 99% of the people that posted on this thread would be up in arms.

Yet they totally feel free to lump everyone that ever walked into a Wal-mart under the bus and make fun of them.

Bottom line, most of the people pictured in People of WalMart d not appear to have any diminished mental capacity. They appear to be people who just really don't give a crap about what they wear, how they look, how they are perceived or anything else. OR they are people looking to get onto People of WalMart for their 15 minutes of fame.

So if they don't care about themselves in any way, do you honestly think they are going to care if they are being made fun of? I doubt it. And if they dressed the way they did to get onto People of WalMart, then they are getting their wish, so it's all good.

I agree with you regarding the over-use of the term "bullying" and nor do I think it applies here. I was the first on this thread to express a dislike for the People of WalMart site, but I never called it bullying. I still feel it's pretty mean and kind of irresponsible and disrespectful to be posting pictures of people on a website just to make fun of them.

I do think, however, that your statement assuming that they don't care if they are made fun of is a bit presumptuous. You have no way of knowing how sensitive or thin-skinned these people are, and sometimes people act in an eccentric way as a defense mechanism against a continuous pattern of being the butt of jokes.

I agree with you. I don't understand adults who bully, laugh at other people, make fun of them, etc. Actually, I pity them. Their lives must be pretty sad if they can find enjoyment out of trying to tear down others whether it be in person or on a message board. Poor things, really. :sad2:

:thumbsup2

I couldn't give a rat's behind what people in Walmart, Kroger, CVS or Disney wear. I grew out of laughing at others lack of sense years ago.

It's not so much about poking fun or bullying as it is making observations. We are an odd species and that will probably never change. We might as well enjoy ourselves, as long as we don't do it in a hurtful way. It was once scandalous for women to go around wearing pants. Kinda makes you wonder where we're headed with men wearing skirts... :confused3
