Dh, I and the kids were out and about today getting dinner. We were waiting for our table and a lady came up to us and asked us how old they were.
(1 & 2) and then she asked when the baby was due (i'm pregnant) and then she asked:

"Are all 3 kids from the same dad???" <<All while pointing at my husband>>

:faint: :faint: :faint:

I was speechless........:rotfl:

That is dumb indeed..

I honestly don't think that 50% of the population thinks before they speak.

Some people do so much better if they just keep their mouth shut.Sounds like she should have been in the back cooking instead of greeting customers.
I would not have been nice at all in my reply to her.

you should have said "NO, actually, I don't know who their fathers are, and this one is just along for the ride".
Some people just do not think before all the sewerage spills out of their mouth!

I was just soo startled and amazed that someone would say such a thing, I just said ummm....yes.....and then we just walked away.

Next time, pull a ditzy move "I don't think this one (pointing at the belly) is mine". That'll confuse whomever might ask!

That's a good one.:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: When mine were little I had the same thing happen to me. (I have 4 they are 23, 21, 19 and 18)

I must congratulate you on keeping your cool though!!

You might be a red neck if.....you even think of asking a woman with her husband if they are all his children:rotfl: Where were you eating?

Why would she want that info anyway:confused3

I can only imagine the questions my mom got with 6 kids under the age of 10! She was an extremely devout Catholic who went to mass nearly every day during that time. :teeth: She and my dad (her second husband) only had two of us and we were 3.5 years apart, but then my oldest niece and nephew were 18 and 28 months younger than my little sister. Those three got her the second round of comments, and two were grands! :lmao:

:lmao: hahah! it was too wierd!

we were at Famous Daves!!

Oh my! :scared1: Do your kids look alike or is there so much difference in them that someone would wonder? Even at that, wouldn't you assume that one was a niece/nephew or something? At any rate, why would you even ask something that crazy?

ETA: Even my DH, who normally ignores everything I read on these boards, is in shock over this one.
BTW- He wants to know whether or not you left a tip!

99% of the time we get asked if they are twins, but they are 11 months apart. SO they do look alike, but I think after she asked how old they were and realized DS was only 1 that he was a big boy and she was a tiny girl. So i think the body structure confused her?? haha i don't know!

I had a waitress ask us something similar once. The boys were 5,1, and new. She asked us if they were all ours. To which DH replies no we borrow random kids from strangers just to mess with people like you.
I get your comment a lot about having the same dad because DS10 is 4 years older than my next DS. DS6 decided to be 2 years late making his grand entrance. And DS5 decided not to wait at all. DD, well, she was a happy accident, we were actually done because the odds of us having a girl were pretty low since we already had 3 boys.

I also get people that argue with me that DS6 and DS5 are twins. Some are quite insistent. Hello I was there and pregnant for 2 years, I think I would remember birthing 2 babies at once.
Some people just don't think.

Wow. You handled it better then I would have.

Nothing like having a waitress call you a slut in front of your husband and kids.

I can't believe what people say sometimes!!

DH and I have three girls -- the first was born blonde haired and blue eyed like me, the second has brown hair and hazel eyes and the third has (almost) black hair and dark brown eyes. They are ALL our children together, but it's amazing how many people feel entitled to ask whether they're all DH's. If I were looking at the situation from the outside in, my interest might be piqued, but I'd never be so bold (read -- RUDE) as to ask someone, especially a perfect stranger.

WOW! so it's interesting to know that this doesn't only happen in my town! but i do agree it drove me crazy, but i'm pregnant and I just wanted to sit and eat! hahaha :)

The perfect answer to something so rude is... A real dead stare and then, Why would you ask that?

That waitress/hostess is darn lucky she got someone so easy going and hungry. I agree with the previous poster that stated most people don't even think before they speak. They just let their nonsense spill right out...
