Only do MK on MNSSHP?

Taking DD (4) to see the mouse this October. I haven't bought park tickets yet ... gasp! I can't decide what to do. We have five full days to play with and because she is only 4, I feel we need one nonpark day to recoup/relax.

My original plan was to get 3 day base tickets and a MNSSHP ticket. Knowing we can get into MK at 4pm for MNSSHP, that would leave us with doing each other park with the 3 day ticket.

But DH thinks we should get hoppers. He feels that is not enough time at MK for DD. Knowing this is the park that would most appeal to her. His thinking is with hoppers we can take DD to MK twice or even three times.

Our overall strategy is not to spend the whole day in park. She still naps and while we may skip a nap here or there, I can't see her doing that every park day. So knowing we will head back to the campground in the afternoon ... maybe hoppers are good idea?

What do you think?

With 5 full days, I would get a 4-day ticket and use the party day as your non-park day.

Agree with PP to just do base tickets now and upgrade when/if you decide to hop. It's the same price no matter when you buy it.

We picked our MK day before the MNSSHP schedule was official and it happened to be on our MK day, so be it as this is our only MK day during this trip......

Will DD stay up late enough to enjoy the party? Adding a 5th day to your tickets is much less expensive and you could just make a short day of it. I agree with your instinct that she will want more MK time. Mornings at MK are great. Perhaps consider a morning there and then an afternoon at your resort in lieu of an off day. If you think she’d be game for the party, then by all means, go for it. Our kids were not ready to stay up that late until they were closer to 8. Good luck and have a great trip!

We took our 4yo in November and we hopped to MK after our days in AK and Epcot. For that age, nothing compares to MK, IMO.

MK is iconic Disney. It will offer the most enjoyment for a 4 year old. I agree with others, buy the lowest number of days that you want to enjoy the parks. As long as you still have an admission left on the ticket you can upgrade to anything you want (park hopper\extra days).

If your daughter will take a nap, or you have a low key day planned for the night of the party, I say go for it. She would probably enjoy seeing everyone in costume, trick or treating, etc. (There will definitely be lots of little ones there) Just a head's up, tickets for October dates may sell out the closer to date. I'd advise against waiting too long to purchase those, if you chose to do the party.

I just looked at the parade times for MNSSHP and you are right. She probably won't be awake for most the party.

I think we may forgo the party and do 4 day tickets.

When we went last year, we did a 3 day base ticket and a party ticket as an additional "day," just as you are thinking. We actually skipped Hollywood Studios that time, and did the party plus one full day at MK, 1 day at EP and 1 day at AK. It was great. With young children, they didn't even notice that we skipped a park. And some of their favourite memories are the days we didn't go to a park and just hung out at the pool :)

Likely a good choice.
After seeing the parade, fireworks and stage show, you'll be lucky to be at your room by 11.
Depending on your child, that could be way too late.
That is an expensive ticket to not get the most out of it.
Instead, I would consider getting another day ticket and do MK the day of the party. The last 2 years, the MK has seemed less crowded on party days until about 4 when the party guests start to show up.
