Love the ones of your niece and nephew sleeping, so cute, wish we were still young enough to get away with passing out on park benches!

Could the kids be ANY cuter!!! Especially the sleeping pics, way way too cute!!! We LOVE LOVE the AK parade! We really like the music and all the neat "animals"!! That was so cool to see Thumper!!! He is so cute, Gabe really likes the cuddly characters!!! Looking forward to more!!!!!

You guys had a wonderful day at Animal Kingdom! we missed the parade we left the park just before it started. We had caught the end of it last year and Ashton loved it! but, when you have tired grown ups what can you do?!?
your FOTLK show pictures make me sad I decided to blow that one off again this year (we missed it last year)...

Thanks Beth! I think they're really cute too! I always joke with my nephew that he's lucky he's so cute cause he gets away with more. His teachers say the same thing!

Hi Keala! Yes, that was a dragonfly. It literally would not get off his hand. He'd shake it and everything! Eventually I was like I gotta take a picture of your new little friend!

Thanks Connie! My mom, sister and I all had cameras, so I've just been picking my favorites. A lot of times we took pictures of the same things! But I'm really happy with all the shots we got.

Animal Kingdom

Our mission since exiting FOTLK was to find soft serve chocolate ice cream for Jace. (Harder to find than you’d think it would be in a park with a reputation for being hotter than the surface of the sun. ) The stand in Camp Minnie-Mickey was out, but we knew we had passed a wacky little cart earlier in the day with it, so we made a stop on the way into Asia.

My dad and I left the others to their delicious treats and were headed to EE to use our FP’s. It was so awesome to ride it back to back with the 4 FP’s we had. I know how lucky we are. We zoomed in and out in NO time at all!

So much FUN! (I did get a little freaked out the second go round. I thought it felt like we waited a little longer to go backwards the second time and I freaked out because I thought the ride had broken down. It was a few seconds of panic, but it was okay once we started moving.) I still don't understand the whole thing with the B-mode Yeti. I've only ridden EE once in 2007 before this trip and it was exciting and thrilling because it was the first time. So I really didn't notice a difference between then and now.) My dad did point out something during our second go round that I never even noticed. Why do you see the broken tracks before going backwards and seeing the Yeti break the tracks? It just seems like if it was the other way around it would be much scarier.

We met up with the gang at the fountain outside Finding Nemo: The Musical. The kids looked like they had drowned in chocolate ice cream! It was everywhere!!

We had accomplished all we wanted to do at Animal Kingdom and an hour ahead of schedule at that!

We passed this guy and I thought it was funny so I had to take a picture.

We exited the park at 5 and hopped on a bus to Animal Kingdom Lodge.

I probably should have done more research on AKL, cause I didn’t know what stop to get off at for the main lobby. The bus first went to (I think Kidani, but I could be wrong) and I just told everyone to stay on, hoping the bus would stop again and not head back to AK. But then the bus driver announced we’d be stopping at Jambo House, and while I had no clue if that’s where we needed to get off, it looked inviting, so I just told the crew we’d try it and do some exploring.

But after getting off I saw it was the right stop!

We entered the main lobby and it was just beautiful. It has such a warm comforting atmosphere. I said in my PTR that AK doesn’t give me the warm fuzzies that the other parks do…well that wasn’t the case at all at AKL! I wanted to curl up with a book on one of the super plush sofas or out by the fire pit. I would LOVE to stay here one day!

We spent a few minutes checking out the Arusha Rock Savanna Overlook. There were only a handful of animals out, but we had just seen so many at AK, so we weren’t really there for that.

It wasn’t long before our bellies were telling us it was time to head to Mara to grab a bite.

It was bittersweet walking by Boma and Jiko knowing that we wouldn’t be eating there, but also knowing that it was something to look forward to experiencing in the future.

We passed the pool.

And then found Mara.

My mom and I split the Flatbread Chicken pizza. Really good! We gobbled it up quickly!

My dad got a double cheeseburger he enjoyed. My sister and the kiddos got snacks. (My sister’s yogurt was a little sour, but the CM at the counter was really sweet about letting her switch it out.)

Then I HAD to try zebra domes! My mom, dad and I decided to share them. (Well I think my dad had 3 and my mom and I just had one.

The only way I could describe it is to me it tasted like one of those Cadbury Crème eggs you get for Easter. It was really good and decadent, but I can’t say I’d get them again. A little too rich for me. But if you like ganache type desserts, this would be perfect for you!

Mara had a great atmosphere! It was very colorful in there and they have beautifully painted animals on the wall. We sat next to the tv that had old Disney cartoons playing which kept the kids entertained.

We made a quick stop to check out the penny press machine in Pumba’s Fun and Games arcade, then headed for the bus stop, and then to Epcot to bus hop back to CBR.

Good choice about coming back to our resort. We thought about going to MK for a little while since it was an EMH night and the park would be open until 2 a.m. But thank goodness we didn’t! Shortly after getting to our room the sky opened up and it started pouring pretty bad and thundering loudly!

My mom and I watched Amazing Race as I uploaded photos to our laptop. It was shortly after that my mom got out from her shower and we realized our blow dryer didn’t work. My dad made a call to the front desk and it wasn’t long before a brand new blow dryer was installed and we were able to dry our hair. Whew… good thing cause my hair is a vicious animal in the morning if it hasn't been blow dried and sraightened the night before.

OMG! AKL has always been my dream resort and you just sealed the deal! I may just have to start that Disney fund I keep talking about...I so want to stay there. I had planned to check it out the Sat we arrived and it just did not play out! maybe it was a good thing we didn't...

It seems like the trip down was uneventful. The trip to DTD looked nice as well. LOL at your dad sleeping in the car while yall were out shopping.

Glad yall liked the rooms at CBR. Bryan and I stayed there for our honeymoon ten years ago.

It sounds like yall had a lovely evening at DHS for F!

That's a long day at AK! Yall got a lot done.

I love that meal at Mara. The chicken flatbread is so yummy!!! Zebra Domes...my little bites of heaven. I truly love them.

wow! Those are beautiful pearls you got! And love the casings! I have to agree about the rental car! LOL! I don't think I'll rely on Disney transportation during busy seasons! Can't wait for more!

AKL was so much more beautiful than I even thought it would be! I think I'm gonna start saving now too! At least it's cheaper than actually going to Africa!

Oh it was literally right next door going from AK to AKL. I want to say it felt like 5 mins. It was so quick. Coming back we had to pick a park to go to first since the buses don't go from resort to resort. We went with Epcot since it was the closest to CBR. We got lucky on the buses and made good time on our way back. I want to say it wasn't more than 30 mins.

That was a crazy thunderstorm!! Thank goodness it was the only bad weather the whole week!

That would be so cool to find out we were in the same place at the same time and didn't even know it! Every now and then I would look around and try to spot you or Amy.
