Yeah, I got exemption, but the fact remains that I still paid into a system I got nothing from.

Can't use US roads or be protected by US police, fire dept, or the US military when you're overseas. It's kinda hard

And my answer is, we shouldn't have. However, FDR used the war to spark the economy, and people were willing to (gasp!) ration things and give of themselves for the war cause.

World War 2 created jobs.

And if the US made it easy to give up citizenship, I'd consider it. From what others who have done it told me, the US doesn't like to lose citizens. They will find ANY reason to force you to keep it.

It is nice to know that all this time away from his family is viewed by many as waste of time and resources. Good thing my DD who has been upset all day is unaware of the feelings many of you have.
