I was wondering if anybody had any experience with online WDW pin sellers such as Pinfinder.com, Pinseller.com, etc? I was interested in buying one of their "bags of pins" and wanted to make sure they were "good" pins for trading at WDW...? :confused3

Thanks!

I just ordered from a few folks this weekend. I'll keep you posted on what I think of them. Pinscastle.com was one of them I ordered through, but I haven't received my order yet. I used e-bay.

I wasn't overly impressed with the pins I received from PinCastle. They did not come with the Mickey backs. I know that some of the pins I received originally had Mickey backs because I already had one that had come directly from WDW. The same pin that came from PinCastle had a different back. It looks think they took all the backs off and put on their generic rubber backs.

I have bought Pin Lots form Pinsellers.com And Pinfinder.com Good trading Pins no Junkey ones All Disney issue. and nice heavy pins! I know I'm tired of going to the parks and finding cheap pins on CM's lanyard so I only trade quality pins. I had bought 20 from a guy off ebay won't do that again! I threw most of them out. But the 2 above are really good. Pinseller.com even puts in extra pins! kinda cool!!

They did not come with the Mickey backs.

I know I sound like a broken record here and I just don't get it this line of thinking. How are people getting the impression that a pin is not a Disney pin is it doesn't have the Mickey pin back?? :confused3

Just because a pin does NOT have a Mickey head rubber back, does NOT mean it isn't an OFFICIAL Disney Pin.

When you look for the authenticity of a pin you should be looking for the ©Disney on the PIN not whatever backing is on it.

Did you know..............

Early Disney pins came with METAL frog backs.
Pins sold at the Disney Store when Disney Pin Trading first became popular in 1999 came with metal backs.
Some Disney Pins especially those from Walt Disney Imagineering (WDI) STILL come with metal backs. :scared1:

You can't expect to buy pins in bulk or at discounted prices anywhere (ebay, private sellers, online sellers) and get the original pin backs? If that is important to you, you need to question every seller you intend to buy from before making the purchase.

I've bought some pins from ebay sellers years ago and never even got a pin back. It's the PIN that is important to me not the back. Who see the back???

If you want to be guarrenteed the original pin backs, then buy pins from their original source (the parks or Disney Shopping) and pay full price.

This post is not directed at any of the posters here, I'm venting. I'm trying to understand how people get this information about the Mickey head backs. Are Cast Members telling people that a pin is not official without the Mickey back??

Sorry.....this subject drives me nuts!! :headache:

Off my soapbox now and done beating the dead horse. .

Nicely put! I am just happy when we trade for a pin that has a back that stays on! I carry spares with me. Sometimes they are genuine Disney, and sometimes they are gold replacements. Beats the heck out of losing a pin because it had a loose fitting!

I've also been very happy with pinseller.com. In addition to the extra pins that he throws in, and the fact that virtually all of them have had Mickey backs (if that's important to you), he also clearly labels pins that are either limited editions or Cast Member exclusives. It makes searching for "keepers" that much easier. And when I once mentioned to him in passing that I had received a few extra duplicates, he said to let him know which pins they were the next time I ordered and he'd be sure not to include any more of them.

BTW, he also sells Mickey-shaped rubber backs in lots of 50 for $4.50 and 100 for $7.95. Like Michelle, I carry a few extra with me while in the parks. They've come in handy a couple of times when I've noticed that a back had fallen off of one of my lanyard pins.

Sounds like you've been into pins for years, like myself. Got into it back with the Millenium pins at the Disney Stores in 2000. I'm thinking that if someone is new into pin trading they would naturally assume that pins should have the mickey head backings.

Your post is indeed a worthwhile one as new traders need to know they are not getting ripped off when they get a pin with a different kind of backing, particulariyl when you are buying lot sizes of pins that are extremely discounted off of rack rate.
