I believe if you sign up the first day of the cruise, dcl offers the 50m for free.

Any suggestions or tips for doing this correctly...

The only tip would be remember to do it -- things can be pretty busy that first day running around. We make sure when we are having lunch that we set up our chat on the app and get the free wi-fi package. Then we can go about our vacation.

There are several threads and guides about how to set your phone so it does not auto update things or use data in the background. Other than that, just follow the prompts on screen to complete the sign up. You will see the free package (if offered) and the pay packages on the screen.
