Has anyone had any experience with online reservations? Is this as good as on phone, or whatever?

If you are talking about going directly to the WDW website to make your online ressies -- I would suggest you call WDW directly. There are many discounts listened on the board, which you can inquire about on the phone. I don't think the WDW website has any area to list a discount code.

The online site listed the summer discounts. There was a link through the mousesavers website. However, I am not sure about the terms when booking on site. The link to the summer discount had terms of 46 days out for cancellation at the time I last checked. The link to regular "room only" reservations on that site had the CRO terms (i.e 5 days). I've been told that "room only" is handled like CRO. Just be sure to read the terms and conditions on the site for the latest and greatest and make sure you are comfortable with them. There should be a link to these on the website. I've made a couple of reservations on line (including the summer discount) and haven't had any problems with them. I never received confirmation in the mail, but when I checked in, I didn't have any problems. Basically, the online printed confimration was all I had in hand, and it sufficed both on the phone with WDTC and at the resort. I also recently had to do a cancellation and there weren't any problems. I was on the phone with CRO handling another reservation and they connected me with the internet group to handle the online cancellation. It was handled very quickly and efficiently.

Another consideration is that the website only allows for simple preferences - i.e non-smoking, general view. If you want specific requests I think you need to go through CRO, because I don't see any place to type that in on the site? Maybe they'll add that ;)

Either way, best of luck to you!

If you like getting that yellow confirmaiton envelope in the mail, stick with CRO. I was also told that people who make online, room only reservations are not able to pay off their balance before they arrive. If those things are important, don't book online. Otherwise, you should be fine.
