Has this ever happened to anyone?

We ordered something pretty expensive online (cost between $1000-1500). It was a "made to order" item from a large online company.

We ordered it about 12 days ago, and initially, it was charged immediately and showed as "pending" on our CC account. After about 4 days pending, the charge dropped off.

The item was delivered yesterday, so we now have it in our possession.

We still have not been charged for it.

WWYD? Wait it out? Contact the company?

I've never had a charge drop off my credit card, but I have had several charges not show up until the product was delivered. If it isn't on your card in a week, I'd call the vendor.

This has happened to me with gap. I ordered it showed pending then I had received the shipment it was no longer showing as pending or anything. My balance online and my book didn’t match. A few days later it appeared again. I would wait a few days and then call if it doesn’t appear.

Wait!

It happens to me frequently. The charge appears, then disappears then reappears. Progressive used to do it (I no longer have them so I can't say if they still so).

If you call right now, you may end up double charged. If it still isn't there in a week, call.

I often don't have things charged until the item ships, so I'm used to that. I have never had happen what has happened here, though.

Good to know. I guess I was looking for stories like this in order to know how long I should wait before contacting the company.

It has happened to me frequently in the last month. Not sure if it has never happened before or I just wasn't looking at my accounts daily. The last one was also a large one, so I definitely noticed that my card balance seemed lower than what I thought it should be. It appeared as pending for several days, dropped off then reappeared dated as the original date it should have been charged.

I once got a free comforter. It just so happened that the card I had used to buy it was one I was planning on closing soon. I received the comforter but was never charged, so I called the company explaining I wanted to close the card so I really needed them to charge it or put it on another card. They had no record of my order and told me they couldn’t help me. I ended up waiting to close the card because I was so afraid they would try to come after me for payment by suing me or something. (Of course my family thought I was nuts for calling and practically begging them to take my money‍♂️)

This is very common. The bank told me the pending is like a preapproval to make sure you have the money. That will vanish then the actual charge will come through.

What has happened to us several times in the past is that we order something and they ship 2-3 of the same item. Happens a lot with amazon. Just recently I was sent 2 pairs of Bluetooth headphones when only one pair was ordered. I was only charged for one pair. I notified amazon and shipped it back. This also has happened with children’s books from amazon

This just happened to us with a large baby furniture purchase from Toys R Us. It was pending, dropped off, then did not show again until 3 days after we picked it up.

My nail salon does this. It shows, then drops off for two days and then appears again.
