Online minister

Has anyone become an Online Minister to perform a wedding.

My niece is getting married next April. They were going to use a Justice of Peace and I suggested them having a friend become "ordained". They have asked me to do it and perform the ceremony. I plan to do it. Just wanted to know if anyone else has.

I got ordained online through the Universal Life Church. Just fill out a very short form and you'll get approval in about a week.

Check with their city or town hall. In Massachusetts, you can get a one day permit to perfor a wedding ceremony.

I became ordained after knowing it was my purpose and calling... Oh and earning a Bachelors degree (on campus) and later my Masters in Pastoral Ministries and Theological Studies.

OP, not knocking it, but find out what your local or state regulations are. You'd hate to find out a few years down the road that your ordination or the marriage isn't valid.

I heard a news report a few weeks ago that said that my state is invalidating some marriages performed by online ordained ministers.

DH is ordained through Universal Life. He's performed two family marriages so far.

Since it is next April and you have time, do your research to make sure that the ordination cannot be invalidated later on down the road.
