Online management of placeholders!

Good to know! I've got a placeholder and need to book something in the next 6 months or so.

Scott over at DCL Blog is reporting there is now ONLINE MANAGEMENT of onboard booked placeholders! It looks like we won't have to make a phone call!

Fantastic find. Both of mine are showing up. This will be much easier to use.

Edit: I do get an error when trying to actually go through to the booking page from the placeholder. I wish they would put some of their hundreds of billions in revenue into better IT.

Awesome! The website seems down for searching and booking. Getting Dory from multiple different places.

I have 3 placeholders. When the bounce back room went to online booking, I was hoping placeholders would do the same. I don’t like the idea of being on hold for hours trying to book a placeholder when booking windows open.

Does anyone know if booking the placeholder will still work through the DCL site in this fashion if you have a TA assigned to the placeholder booking?

Typically, if you have a travel agent assigned to your reservation, you cannot make any changes to the reservation yourself -- all changes with a possible effect on costs must be done through the travel agent. This includes payments, cabin changes, guest changes, and booking ground transportation, so I would guess it applies to changing a placeholder booking to a specific cruise as well.

I tend to book online and just purchased our first placeholder last month; this is great news!

Here are an updated description of the onboard booking offer: https://disneycruise.disney.go.com/guest-services/future-cruise-onboard-offer/

It appears that if you convert a placeholder to Concierge, you will get an onboard credit -- I think this is newly added.
  • 10% off prevailing rates as quotes on disneycruise.com can be applied to a new eligible booking in Stateroom Categories 04A to 11C only, excludes concierge and suites. If the Placeholder Reservation is converted to a new eligible booking in Concierge categories 01A through 03B, a non-refundable and non-transferrable onboard credit per stateroom based on length of sailing will be issued instead: cruises of 6 nights or less will receive a $100 USD credit; cruises of 7 nights and longer will receive a $200 USD credit.

Great news! It won't really affect me since we always use a travel agent, but I know people have been hoping for this for years so it's good news.

Is this new? I thought placeholders couldn't be used for Concierge cabins.

I don't think it's a new policy, as we've gotten the onboard credit before when we've used a placeholder for a concierge stateroom. I do think that might be new language, though, as I've not seen this onboard credit advertised before (or at least not advertised well).

The stateroom credit for concierge without the 10% discount is actually carry-over from OLD policy when all OBBs received a stateroom credit. When that policy changed to eliminate the stateroom credit, it was never officially clarified that Concierge continued to receive the OBC because there was no 10% discount available at that level. The new wording now more adequately explains what has been in place for years.

Huh. I was excited, but I can’t do anything with my placeholder online. I tried 3/27 and 3/28 (thought maybe it would update overnight or something).

I can see my placeholder, but I can’t do anything with it … my only options are “Explore More Options” and “Cancel My Placeholder”. I don’t have the “Search All Cruises” button available as outlined on the Disney cruise line blog. Explore more options takes me to a page that explains placeholders and tells me to call DCL.

I tried on my phone and on my PC.

The app doesn’t list my placeholder at all.

By chance did you name a TA for your placeholder? Or transfer it to a TA? If so, only the TA can do anything with it.
