Online Lingo...

Ok, here is a prime example of why I hate that online chatting abbrieviation stuff. I'm talking to this one girl on YIM, and she keeps going, "Yut". Now I've never seen that before. I was thinking that it was like, "what", but apparently not. When I keep telling her something over and over, because she keeps going "yut", she gets mad at me. She finally has to explain to me that "yut", means "yeah".



That was kind of stupid I thought. I mean, why not just say, "yup".

Anybody else have a problem similar to this?

well i always read nvm as nevermind. nm is nothing much. nm u? is nothing much, you? when used in reply to "whats up".

OMG. afk. I totally forgot about that one. I talked to this one guy for a few hours one time and he said it maybe three times. I finally said, "wait. stop. whats afk mean!?" and hes like, "away. from. keyboard."

I used to use the abbreviations all the time in middle school (I thought I was so cool). Then one time, I was on AIM, typed something to my friend, and when I went to read it, I had NO CLUE what I was trying to say. That's why I don't use them anymore.

The only one I use is ttyl, I like that one for some reason..

As for one's I could never figure out:
TY = thank you
LMTO = laughing my tush off
T4U2D = time for you to die (my friend did that to be funny once)
BBQ = be back quick (I thought it was bar-b-que )
OMGWTFBBQ = oh my god/gosh, what the f***, be back quick (that one took me forever to figure out)

Trust me there's plenty more, that's all I could think of at the moment

Ok. I'm just a big geek and I know what pwned is. pwned is a greater version of owned. It started iwth online gamers who would talk to each other and to play a game and type you're gonna have to type fast. P is next to O on the keyboard so they would type pwned instead of owned. and they stopped correcting it. like teh instead of the.
