Online dating sites? yay or nay

I haven't read all the responses, but just wanted to add that what I have found is that the free sites are full of married men

Yes! My DH had a co-worker that was married (age 48) with a young child and pregnant wife and he had his pic plastered on several dating sites. I'm talking a big color glossy close up! No question as to who it was. Bad thing, after all his co-workers heard and saw this, two more co-workers were found on the same type sites. What is this world coming to?


ETA: The co-worker who had his color glossy plastered on several dating sites was *sooooo surprised* people found out. Thing was, there were quite a few very nice men and women he knew who were single and using the sites in a positive way. Of course friends and co-workers could see you there just by browsing. Just shows how men can be so utterly stupid when they have one thing on their mind!

Interesting, I'm just the opposite...attraction and chemistry are so important and I find that you can think you have a lot in common with a person and then you meet and there's not an ounce of chemistry and the person doesn't always look as they do in their pictures

I'm exactly the same way. I really tried other people's suggestion of giving it time with a guy, "He will grow on you," "There was no chemistry at first, then..." "We were more brother & sister at first," or "He was my best friend for years, no passion, then suddenly the passion was there."

I found for me, if the chemistry & attraction is not there at the beginning, it NEVER will be. That's like trying to change water to a flammable compound. NOT going to happen.

Recently, while looking at my emails, I looked at the match.com's ad in the sidebar, went through the available choices in my area, age range & preferences. 8 million people here, and those were my only available choices? Seriously, I'd rather shoot myself than date what was on the site.
