Online copmuter classes for kids

HAs anyone signed up for the online programming classes??? They teach kids to create games and apps. My son is interested but I am not sure if websites are legit or scams. The classes cost about $250. If anyone has experience with these sites please share.

If he is just getting started in programming, I would recommend some FREE sites for learning such as khanacademy.org (Go under Learning, and Computer Programming - they have a lot more than programming) and Code.org. There are tons of lauguages out there that can really dishearten the beginner, but these sites will provide some basic of program flows, loops and logic. And they are FREE

I also second the recommendation for the free resources. There are so many. My son has used Khan Academy, code.org, appinventor, and codeacademy are all great.

I've seen introductory coding classes at my library. Also, nothing beats a good old fashioned book!!
