I guess I don't know why they would bother with staffing ships until they have the clearance from the CDC to resume sailing, and have clearance to stop in ports like the Bahamas. That would be the tail wagging the dog. I bet they have staff on notice to return to work on short notice, maybe as little as a week. A week or so of training and they are back sailing.I guess I feel not staffing your ships is definitely something you control and need to talk about with those who have many millions of dollars invested in your upcoming cruises. They could start the talk beginning with the 11/02 cruise and further by letting them know they're cancelling the cruise because they have no crews. It's very disingenuous and bad business to hold those people's money when they know the cruise is not going out, especially the concierge guests who do not have the option to cancel. Does DCL really not know they aren't going to sail in 8 weeks?
But I spent some time the past few days reading a lot of International press, and how America handled the pandemic has a lot of nations not wanting Americans in their countries anytime soon.
I can't see any situation in which DCL resumes this year, and maybe not into the second quarter of 2021. And those siutations are ALL outside Disney's control.
EDITED: I base the above statements from essential businesses who in the past week or so have announced they are shelving any discussion of resuming operations until after the first of the year. As in they aren't even going to talk about reopening until next year, not that they are going to reopening right after the first of the year. I can't see non-essential businesses like cruise lines moving faster.
