Online Check-In

Hi,

Is there any downside to using online check-in?

Thanks
We were hesitant to do on line check in. But we decided to at least try it with our last stay which was at Beach Club. Our room was ready about the time we put in that we’d be there. We ran about 45 minutes late due to traffic. I must say I really liked not having to go to the front desk. Our luggage was brought to our room quickly. Fastest than any other time. I will definitely do in line check in again. I don’t see any downside.

Only possible downside is you have to put a credit card down for charging, which means they will put a $100 hold on it the morning of check in.

Another downside is that if you have a room only reservation then very early on your check-in day, any outstanding room balance will be charged to your credit card that is on file. Many not be an issue for you unless you were / are planning to use Gift cards to pay.

Yes if you want to use gift cards to pay off any room balance, the Front desk CMs can reverse the charge and apply your debit card against the outstanding balance.

Currently, can't use GC to pay for your room (but can go later to have them reverse charges off CC & on to GC) & can't pick up MB if it wasn't mailed to you already (& is only held 24 hours at front desk) & can't opt in to receive no daily housekeeping for $$, & can't get map of resort or any other pertinent resort questions answered if you skip the desk at check in.

This is my short list of what you'll miss, if these don't effect you, then check in online & head straight to your room.

I usually call to pay my room off a few days before I go and can use my gift cards that way. I’d rather waste time on the phone while I’m at home than in line at the front desk when I’m in Disney!

This is a great tip! I'm buying my GC's this Sat & leave for WDW next Tue. I think I'll give them a call next Sun or Mon. Would be great to do it in advance!

:thanks: Thanks so much for the tip. I did indeed do this today! Paying off my entire resort balance using my Chase rewards I've earned and 2 additional gift cards. Now I can plan how much I'll need in GC for food and souvies. This worked like a charm, couldn't be happier. Even going several times a year I still learn new tricks all the time. :disrocks:
