Are all resorts pretty much online check in now?? I know you can check in, in person if you choose but for the most part, does everyone have the option for online check in bypassing the front desk?

everyone have a choice to do it online, but there is no guarantees that you will skip the front desk, but it is likely.

What's changed is it is now available beyond 60 days. Not sure how far out, always available as soon as we book but I don't book a year out or anything, usually just 3, 4 months at most.
Your doing online check in has no bearing on going to the lobby to check in too.
You may get your room number via text, you may not.
You may arrive before they have a chance to send it. You may just not be one of the ones who get it. No way to know before hand.
Some guests have to go by to get their MB
You can go by even if you get your room number via text.
Totally your choice.

I was surprised to see that it was possible for me to do online check in for our stay late Nov/Dec this year. I didn't go all the way through, though. It's a bit too early for me.

Make sure your main Disney account has the correct phone number. For some reason my account had my OLD number (even though I've changed it a zillion times in a zillion other places) so I never got a room ready text.
